I think we all know how little correlation there is between intelligence and income.  Perhaps the intelligence test is actually a class test.  I always do shockingly well on those things and yet am incapable of making a dime.

So, people with lower IQ tend to vote for Bush? If this was truth, I would now understand how they would support a president that is not so up to par with his speaking ability.

Some things to remember:

1) IQ is not a reliable measure of intelligence. It is, however, an excellent measure of education.
2) The Poorest and least educated counties tend to be Democrat. State level is too wide.

Thats true. The most educated & least educated tend to be Democrat. The middle tends to be Republican.

True. If ya think about it, Dem strongholds are either deprived inner cities, poor rural areas (this is especially true of the Deep South) or college-ish.
GOP strongholds tend to be more affluent rural areas and exurbia...

This is interesting, and expected, and I doubt it was made up.

This is similar to a thread I started a while back listing different states and their proportion of advanced degrees. I made a map of states with red = higher than average advanced degrees (percentage) and blue = lower than average. The map predicted the state's presidential winner 39 out of 50.

It's cool that the two most socially conservative states (Utah and Miss.) are at the bottom. Wink

A lot of the poorest and/or least-educated counties/congressional districts are majority-minority and therefore strongly Democratic. But once race is controlled for, better-educated voters are more Democratic.

When I get a chance, I'll make a table of the 10 least educated congressional districts--my guess is that most of these went to Bush.

Although Bush went to Yale and Harvard, he doesn't come across as well-educated--I can certainly understand how less-educated whites can relate to him.

LOL, this is a classic!

I wonder how one figures out the average IQ of a state? Give or take a few numbers, the higher Gore's margin of victory the smarter the state? Must be! And vice versa for Bush, so the larger his margin of victory the dumber the state, give or take a few. It can't be that overwhelmigly obvious. Enjoyed this one.

Just another pathetic attempt by those on the left to smash the right. I'm sure all 15 million of Floridas residents took a IQ test and they got an average that way. This is mostly hogwash.

They are often M-M *in theory*... in practice they often aren't... luckily for the Dems the dog-poor Yella' Dawg's who make up the bulk of the white population in those districts also vote Democrat...

Education has less to do with voting patterns than educated people sometimes like to think...

Technically they don't have to.  That's why I can take a poll of 2,000 Floridians and get a rough outlook of the state's opinion.

This does not mean only stupid people vote for Gore.   It seems to have much more with income and education that actual intelligence.
