That's right, more elections in Portugal, which yours trulywill try to allow you to follow.
There is a lot of disactisfaction with the overnment, for having pulled a Bush Father('no new taxes').
It is expected that some protest vote will follow, but the whole elections themselves will be somewhat shadoweed by the incoming presidential elections in January.
The local system is a bit complicated, but I will do my best to explain it:
The lowest entity is a freguesia, which can be roughly transalted as a 'civil parish'. This is a bit useless subdivision, and I in fact wonder what's the point in it even existing. There is an elected 'Parish Assembly, which selects by secret ballot an executive body, a 'Parish Junta'.
The division above the 'civil parish' is the concelho, or local council. This is the main entity, and has the power to levy taxes on property, some communications, cars, swerage, and possibly some other things I'm not aware off. This has two government bodies, the 'municipal assembly' which oversees the work of the executive body, but in reality mostly rubberstamps everything, and the main body, the Câmara Municipal, or 'municipal house(?)'. This is a somewhat unique body, in that it is a mixture of an executive and a legislative body: ie, it is elected by the voters, and has a mixed party composition, and votes n the executive initiatives, but has at the same time executive functions. In practice, the executive functions are only exerted by the members, called vereadores that belong to the party or parties in control of the body.
Thus, a voter cats three ballots, one for parish assembly, one for municipal assembly, and one for municipal house'.

I'll post the current distribution of municipal houses(the really important body) later, but I can say the 4 most important cities are all PSD.

Nice maps, but sometime the color differences are hard to follow. Gold, er, orange, er, pink, eh, some damn color here, etc... Tongue
Thanks for doing it anyway. Smiley

Polls for mayor of Lisbon give the PSD 14,2% of advantage over the PS.
No surprises, given that the PS candidate is an invory tower intellectual and one of the least popular figures on the left.

Please , can you say whether the PP/CDS  has a distinct political identity nowadays.  Oh, interestlingly their web page seems to work after at least a year or two.  They have joined EPP group. So, are they moving towards the centre.

They've alwasy had a distinc political identity, even when they were the taxi party in the early 90s.
And this new leader is a bit more christian democratic than the last one, who was more to the right on economics.
