Sorta' like a pay as you go system.

"Hello, police?"

"Yes mam, how can I help you?"

"My husband is dying.  I need help!"

"Mam, there is a 200 dollar EMT Fee.  Do you have this on hand?"

"No, no I dont."

CLICK

"Hello!??@?"

edit:  I read the topic wrong, but anyway, you get the point.

The United States is practically a communist country. I don't know why we would privatize these when we still have bullsh!t like the 40-hour work week and minimum wage on the books.

Well, duh, privatizing this would be the last step.
Obviously that stuff would have to go first.

Law enforcement should definitely not be privatized. Enforcement of the law and protection of rights is not only legitimate, but also the fundamental purpose of government.

In any event, each corporation charged with enforcing the law would effectively become a mini-government of its own. At best, the original problem would still remain; at worst, there would be anarchy.

While law enforcement and defense should not be privatized, matters like the production of weapons and police cars (for example) should.

Seriously, Philip, why do you imagine more than about 2 or 3% of the population would ever support such nonsense?

I don't know, but they obviously do, since we still have both of them.

No, of course not.  Having the organizations that enforce the law that is written by the government owned by private companies is pure idiocy.

it's about one of the only government run things I would keep.  Road ownership, but not funding nor care taking, and the military are the only roles government should EVER have, hands down.

No, the matter of saving people's lives should not be a for-profit venture.
