Putting this to poll for jfern's own benefit - is jfern just using the hurricane/flooding disaster in New Orleans as an opportunity to validate partisan attacks on Bush?

There are ample grounds for legitimate criticism of Nagin, Blanco, and Bush; Jfern isn't the one making it.

I see the "iron fisted" "moderator" is showing off his ability to delete a topic he started, post a new one and then close it... something every member with his number of posts can do.

And then locking the new thread. Wink

Uhm, I've never seen a non-moderator be able to actually lock a thread.

Ok, you didn't have to go do it yourself, you could have simply told me how to do it.

D/Yes.

It's okay to criticize the president's actions after the Hurricane; but to criticize his actions in preparation for the hurricane isn't.

He also has spent almost no time attacking Mayor Nagin, who has been the most to blame throughout this whole ordeal.

The Dept. of Homeland security says it takes full responsibility during a disaster. You can blame the former Republican mayor of a poor town that got flooded all you want, but its the feds who had the resources here.

Former Republican Mayor? What are you smoking?

The problem with jfern is that he is both mindlessly partisan, and a total ass. So his response to the hurrican is utterly predictable.

In fact, I'm fairly sure I could predict jfern's response to virtually any event of significance. Any intelligent person could, because jfern's mind works like a cheap calculator.

Nagin was a Republican who switched to being a Democrat just to run in the mayor relection.

And if he were still a Republican (and I have no idea what he is), I'd be saying exactly the same thing.

He is a Republican who runs as a Democrat - for instance, he endorsed Jindal, Landrieu's opponent.

Didn't Jindal run against Blanco for Gov?

Yes.  I honestly don't care if someone isn't doing as much as he could.  While I would like to just pick up my phone and say "Hey, (insert government official here), you should pick up the slack and do more!", I kind of can't, and as such, it's kind of pointless for me to identify all the people who aren't doing as much as they could.  We have the officials in power that we have, and they aren't going away, so all we can currently do is to do what we can and hope that they do the same.  We can't realistically ask for anything more.

Oh I get it. So if Bloomberg responds poorly to a disaster we can blame it on Democrats since he used to be one.

If he responded as poorly as Nagin did, I'd blame him no matter of what party he is or was in.
