I brought this up in another thread.  We should have an Atlas fantasy election.  The Democrats and the Republicans could nominate a candidate, and a created poll would ecide the election.

Do you like the idea?  Do you want to run?  If it comes to pass, I would like to be the head of the AFDNC (Atlas Forum Democratic National Commitee)

I think it's a great idea! I support it! We could even have primaries, with only those from certain states voting at different times, lol. Smiley

I would be happy to see that idea come to pass, and would gladly participate.

sounds good Smiley

Umh primaries by states though would be problematic as only 1-2 from any one state.

You want to turn this into a government sim? Smiley

*shrug*  I participated in a full US Government sim (3 branches, parties, etc.) with about 150 people and was the Republican (and Libertarian) nominee for President.  Problem was that the thing was very time consuming and you had some real screwballs cause everybody could join.   It gets addicting and really is purposeless.
So in other words, lets NOT turn this into a sim - I kinda enjoy the low-pressure discussion here.

That and I kinda think everybody would just vote their own party so the only fun would be the primaries.

But of course I'll participate as long as there is an Electoral college Smiley

Seems like there is a great response to this!  I don't think having a primary would be the best thing though.  The parties should nominate who they want from the inside.  A primary would become way way too confusing.

I will not be forming a campaign in 2004 for the AFPresidency.

That will be the AFDNC's official campaign website.

It looks like I have an opponent now. I can't wait to see who the Democrats think is the better candidate.

I think Chris would be stronger electorally, but I will support whoever my party nominates.  i an the chairman, so both of you have to like me. Smiley

Do you think a socialist will win an Atlas-wide poll?

You're exactly right.  That settles it, CM should be a Republican.  Come on dude, switch that Michigan color! Smiley

If you guys are serious about a comitment toward this mock-election then I will put my hat into the ring for the Republican nomination.  I come from PA which is a key state.  I'm young and have a lot of energy.  I'm headstrong like a bull in a china shop, but I'm gental as a velvet glove when I have to be.  For those of you who have made your own way, I appload you for reaching out and grasping the American Dream.  For those of you who are struggling, to steal a line from Bill Clinton, "I feel your pain" (lol, just kidding).

So if you guys are serious, I'm in.

No one thought a Socialist would win a Vermont-wide election but it happened. I do think you should give a Socialist a crack at governing. Maybe it'll be good.

I think we would need a stronger candidate.  You are looking like the outsider for the nomination right now, and whoever I choose as my puppet will be the insider.

Now I know how Kucinich feels.  I go to all this trouble to anounce my candidacy and nobody even notices.
