I'm really split on this issue.  Right now, I could vote either way.  Although I think we should support democracy around the world, I still believe that we should amke Taiwain realize that they are a rebellion and that they should rejoin China.
That's about the most repulsive thing I've read in a while.  China is tyrannous regime, Taiwain is a legitiment democracy.  Suggesting that we should let them be forced back into Chinese rule is against everything that this country was founded on; that our ancestors fought and died for.

Our economic relations with China are anything but beneficial to us.  We have never had a fair trade deal with China.

Let me make it clear that just about any Senator that votes for this bill isn't getting a vote from me for any office...ever.  It reveals a total lack of principles.

I oppose this bill. True, I don't like a lot of foreign aid to begin with, but democratization is a cause I support and frankly, I don't like commies much Tongue.

Except China aren't commies.

Aside from that they are still a tyrannical regime so I oppose the bill.

That's a little harsh.  How does this reveal a lack of principles?  If anything, this shows my willingness to support an unpopular cause when I think it's right.  That is not a lack of principles, Mr. Former Senator.

I just don't think it's right to go looking for conflict.  I think that's bad for the interests of Atlasia.

Also, I see in some places being written that this would repeal the whole act; it only repeals one little clause.

The question is on final passage of this bill. All those in favor, say Aye; those opposed, say No.

Nay.  China is the potential Soviet Union of the 21st century, except even more dangerous.  It is our duty to defend Democratic Taiwan.

Nay, given that China has not given any indication that they plan to do anything about it that could prove to be problematic.

Still not decided, I'm still open to arguments through PMing.  I'm leaning towards Yea, but I'm not sure.

Well, it seems to me that if China was going to do anything, they would have done it already.  Given that they haven't, I can't see why this bill is necessary.

The bill has enough votes to fail; Senators have 24 hours to vote or change their votes.
