i'd say of the t-shirt wearers, 80% would know his name; two thirds would know he was a communist rebel, a third would know where he was from, and about 3% would be able to describe his activities. I'll vote for option two.

A lot higher than you people think. Every person I've seen in one also has lots of leftist buttons and stuff on their backpacks, so they obviously know he was a leftist figure. And let's not forget The Motorcycle Diaries.

Probably around 50% know where he's from, what he's done, what he believes in, etc.  Upwards of 90% have a general idea as to who he is.

Why is where he's from so important? He was from Argentina, but did not engage in any rebellion there.

The basic thing is he was one of the main figures of the Cuban Revolution. I'd bet around 2/3 of people wearing the shirts know that.

I really doubt it BRTD. Even if they could, I really doubt that they could provide much more information; maybe what he was fighting for, a background of the situation, what happened, etc.

Define "know who the guy is."  I'm sure most know he was a communist, but once you get into specifics, when he rose to prominence, where he's from, the numbers go down dramatically.

I wonder how many of Che's supporters could estimate how many anti- or non-communist civilians he murdered as a guerilla, or how many political prisoners he had summarily executed?  Of course, there are no official figures on this.

Did anyone else here not like Motorcycle Diaries? I thought there wasn't enough about his political views in the movie, they just whitewashed it for the American audience. They turned it into a guys version of Thelma & Louise w/o the tragic ending. The guy who played Che is a great actor though, I've seen him in other movies.

I voted 40-50%
