Yet another question I don't need to answer. I can deal with some sleazy perverts being around my area if it means not having to live in a hideously boring place full of stuck up rich white people.

I actually haven't been to a strip club in almost a month. This is just another anti-suburban post, not a strip club one.

I would rather live someplace where my children can grow up safely and happily than pay hundreds of dollars for annoying sluts to sit on me.

I don't really care about going to the strip club, I'd just rather live anywhere than in a McMansion in a suburb.

Yeah, a McMansion in a brand new suburb would suck, but I could handle it compared to an urban hell hole with drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes, and people like you hanging around my house.

Why anyone wants to live in those monstrosities is beyond me. A medium-sized, two-story house just outside the city is pretty much my only suitable environment.

Let's see, I could live next to a place where there is only a singular family in an ugly house, or I could live next to a place where there will be noise and traffic going in and out all day and especially all night(when I'm trying to sleep). Hrm, which should I choose?

Given that McMansions are generally not where the seediest of the bunch are prone to hang out, I'll take some overzealous rich guy over a strip club any day.

Neither, thanks, if they are located in the United States.  Anywhere else in the world, next to the strip club.

mcmansion, basically cookie-cutter big house in a new, outer suburb, with no real garden but a gaudy facade and heaps of internal space, in an area with very little infrastructure. Basically, think "Deperate Housewives" but without gardens, with nobody speaking to eachother and every house looking practically identical.

It's hell, but it's probably better then any place next to a strip club.

Oh, I see - good explanation, Hugh.

Yep, I'll take a "McMansion" over some inner city or some slummy area or some place next to a strip club any old day of the week.

But my first choice would be to take the McMansion and move it up in the mountains. Smiley Actually, there are quite a few gated communities and associations in mountain areas, but that's not my thing. I know a guy who lives in one and it's constant competition - people trying to meet the guidelines while always one-upping the person who has just built or just moved in. First one had 3 contractors, next one in has to have 4. Next one in has to have 4 plus a consultant. Next one in has to have 5. And so on. Down to the kind of water meter they hook up. One guy up there had 22 contracts for the building of his house. That's not my thing.

On second thought, I'll just take a cabin in Jackson Hole, WY. Smiley

Does BRTD realize that not all suburbs have McMansions?

Why anyone wants to live in those monstrosities is beyond me. A medium-sized, two-story house just outside the city is pretty much my only suitable environment.

I don't get it either, especially since I have a wonderful little apartment. I have only one main room, and 3-mini rooms, a kitchen, a closet and a bathroom. It's perfect. My computer is right next to the kitchen which is right next to the TV so I can fix something to eat while watching TV and going on the internet at the same time, rather than having to move around constantly. And my bed is next to the TV too. Everything is simple and condensed. Obviously this will only work for a place with only one person living there, but it sure beats having a monster house.

Let's see, I could live next to a place where there is only a singular family in an ugly house, or I could live next to a place where there will be noise and traffic going in and out all day and especially all night(when I'm trying to sleep). Hrm, which should I choose?

all night? No. Strip clubs aren't open 24 hours. Strip clubs in Minnesota must close at 2 unless they don't serve alcohol, in which case they can stay open as long as they want (one in Minneapolis closes at 4)

Does BRTD realize that not all suburbs have McMansions?

Do all? Well no, but that depends on your definition of suburb. After all Camden is technically a suburb. They don't have McMansions. But I think when most people say suburb that's not what they're referring to. There's also a nice place just north of Minneapolis called Brooklyn Center that I actually probably wouldn't mind living in, since it's fairly close to all the good spots in Minneapolis. No McMansions either. But it's also known as a center of gang activity. You don't think of lots of gangs when you think of suburbs.

Most older suburbs not built in the last 5-10 years lack McMansions. Unsuprisingly, these make up a large number of all suburbs.
