According to James42 most conservative minded people are trolls.
Quote from: James42 on September 18, 2005, 12:11:44 am
rc) you are so caught up in hero worship of conservatism (or specific conservative individuals - be they be major figures such as George Bush or similarly inclined trolls like states), that you are all but blind to common sense in your desire to form some sense of identity.

Hold it right there! I'm not sure that I'd call Bush and States "similarly inclined" but anyone who truly does blindly worship Bush is indeed a troll IMO. However, that just simply isn't true for most conservatives on the board.

I used to really like Bush.
Now I regret having voted for him.
But one thing is almost certain: 2008 should be a near slam dunk for Democrats.

I'm not sure why yes constitutes a "James42" answer, considering that doesn't even approximate what you quoted him as saying.

Yeah, kind of like 1984 was a near slam dunk for the Democrats. Or like 1996 was a near slam dunk for the Republicans.

States, Philip: Get a room already.
There are plenty of intellegent, sensible conservatives here. You just aren't among them. You two are the right wing answer to jfern and opebo.
Folks like Giant Saguro have perfectly sensible, carefully weighed opinions. Most of the posters here, including most of the conservitives, liberals, moderates/centrists, and whatever else have you - tend to be fairly polite, especially in terms of internet debate boards.
The difference is that our lefty leaning trolls seem to simply shrug it off when I note some of the flaws in their arguements (ok, ok, I've gotten a few PMs...)
I'm not sure whether to be complemented or insulted - complemented that you consider me important enough to single out to dedicate a whole thread to; or insulted that you did your usual piss-poor effort on the supposed hatchet job.
Personally, I think we'd be better off if we had more George Wills and fewer Ann Coulters in this world - and for that matter more Bill Clintons and fewer Jane Fondas.

First of all, people who use "LOL' in message board posts deserve death.
Second of all, what about his post is dumb or condescending? It seems reasonable to me.

I have the right to an opinion just like you do sir. And just because its not mainstream "moderate" doesn't make it any less sensible or intelligent then anything you might say. Disagreeing with someone doesn't make that person a "troll" as you like to say. I disagree with you on a lot of things but I don't consider you a troll. Just because you think you are better then everyone else here doesn't make you right sir.

James, I wouldn't put States quite in that category. He's obviously conservative, frankly right wing, but he
does not
post fraudulent links. He doesn't even claim to be a Republican.
Opebo is obviously posing as a degenerate and a caricature of liberal, hedonistic, Democrat (think Ted Kennedy or Barbara Boxer on crack and holding a life appointment). He's a goof, but not really a Democrat; he doesn't really think he is.
Jfern, on the other hand, does
really
think he is a Democrat, and thinks that he's supporting the party by posting links and putting his spin on them (or he just
really
understand what he's reading). The closest to him on the right is AUH2O, and he understands what he links to.
Most of the Republicans here understand that you
are
a real Democrat and opebo and jfern are not. I hope I've made it clear that you are liberal that I respect.
I never thought that I'd be defending the bulk of the Democrats on this site. :-)

I'm not posing as a hedonist, J.J. - all that is real. But you are correct that I'm not overly fond of the Democratic Party, it is just that it is so much better than the Religious Party.
However I do find Jfern to be a 'real Democrat'.

How am I not a real Democrat? Just because I think that a sample of 940 heads and 60 tails is statitistically different from that of a fair coin?

No, because you either cannot or will not read the subjects that you link to. Because you support the actions of Ray Nagin, largely because he's a registered Democrat (currently), that had the effect of killing and injuring several thousand people who are mostly poor and Black.
You were actually at the point where you didn't realize that there was only one road into NOLA, and that the rest were under water(Hey, don't blame me, I posted photos). Then you were criticizing Republicans for not using them. Anybody commenting on it with that amount of ignorance cannot be a
real
Democrat, but only a hack with morals and intelligence equal to the effluvia produced by the still submerged portions of NOLA.
