City result - turnout 75.8%
SPD 30.4%
CDU 29.3%
Greens 16.6%
FDP 13.4% (!)
Left 6.7%
other 3.7%, of which NPD 1.1%, placing sixth.

SPD and CDU both worse than in 98 and 02 in every single one of 42 quarters. (For election stats purposes, Bonames and Frankfurter Berg; Preungesheim and Berkersheim; and Gutleutviertel and Bahnhofsviertel are considered to be one each. Flughafen is uninhabited anyways.)
FDP and Left/PDS both better than in 98 and 02 in every single one of 42 quarters.
Greens are fascinating in this respect though. Their overall result is in between.
In the inner city but posh or at least not poor areas of Bockenheim, Westend-Süd, Westend-Nord and Nordend-West, and (grr) in the inner city poor area of the Innenstadt where I myself live, they polled worse than in 1998. All of these are more or less strongholds, too. In the Westend (and I hate the Westend anyways Smiley ) the reverses are actually pretty dramatic.
In Schwanheim, Höchst, Sindlingen, and Bonames/Frankfurter Berg, meanwhile they performed even better than in 2002. In Seckbach and Harheim, they mirrored their 2002 result. These are all outer areas. Schwanheim, Sindlingen, and Bonames/Frankfurter Berg are working-class outer areas - places Al might like. Smiley Seckbach and Harheim are more posh. Höchst is a special case, a now-declining second urban core city really. Höchst is also the only one of these where the Greens are not polling well below their city average.

Of the 42 areas, 19 (representing 48% of the electorate) have had the SPD topping the poll in each of the last three elections. They form a Western and an Eastern cluster:
Bahnhofs/Gutleutviertel, Gallusviertel, Bockenheim, Griesheim, Nied, Höchst, Rödelheim, Hausen, Praunheim, Ginnheim, Heddernheim, Niederursel to the West; and Nordend Ost, Bornheim, Ostend, Riederwald, Fechenheim, Eckenheim, and Bonames/Frankfurter Berg to the East.
14 (representing just 28% of the electorate) have had the CDU topping the poll throughout, situated on the fringes and along that central axis between the SPD areas: Altstadt, Westend Süd, Westend Nord, Dornbusch, Eschersheim; Kalbach/Riedberg, Nieder-Eschbach, Nieder-Erlenbach, Harheim; Seckbach, Bergen-Enkheim; Sachsenhausen Süd; Sossenheim, Unterliederbach
9 (representing 24% of the electorate) have had changes of heart.
Zeilsheim voted SPD in 98, but CDU in 2002 and 2005.
Oberrad, Niederrad and Schwanheim also voted SPD in 98 and CDU in 02, but Oberrad and Niederrad returned to the SPD camp now, while Schwanheim has the two exactly tied. (And the Greens exactly one vote above the FDP! Smiley )
Nordend West, Sachsenhausen Nord, and rather incongruously, Sindlingen voted SPD in 98 and 02, but had the CDU ahead in 05.
Innenstadt had the CDU ahead in 98, the SPD in 02, but now the CDU again. Sad
Preungesheim/Berkersheim provided a real shocker for me though. SPD ahead out there for the third time as far as my stats go, which is to 1978, in any election. The other two are the 1980 Bundestag and 1989 European elections. They've been building a lot out there recently, which has obviously affected the result.

No, the Externsteine are in Horn-Bad Meinberg, Kreis Lippe, some 40 km to the south.
I think Exter is best known for the "Abfahrt Vlotho-Exter" of the A2. Smiley

FDP's strongest result in "industrial estate north" though - what's wrong here? What sort of area is that?

And of course, map please.

Haha, good question. I'm not so often up there. That's fairly in the north and a part of Trotha, which is so far out that it's practically a town of its own. I know that Industriegebiet Nord is where our port (to the Saale river) is located. And according to my numbers they have only 274 voters there, so it might be really an industrial estate. But there were several precincts of Halle were the FDP got more than 10% of the vote. Wink

This wish is harder to fulfill than I thought... here, try this one and click on "Stadtviertel":

Mighty cool map. Thanks.
Yeah, with that few voters results become slightly random-ish.
Where`s the uni? Paulusviertel?

Yeah, with that few voters results become slightly random-ish.

The FDP finished second with 14.1% in Diemitz, which has about 1500 voters. Overall, the FDP seems to have gotten its best results in the suburbs (like Diemitz).

Our university itself is spread all over the city, but your on the right lead. Wink The Greens did best in the precincts where the most students live.

Paulusviertel: 17.8%
Giebichenstein: 17.4%
Nördliche Innenstadt: 14.4%
Altstadt: 14.1%
Saaleaue: 11.5%
Kröllwitz: 11.4%
