do you support first and second trimester abortions being outlawed?

Um, I'm leaning towards "no"... not that I care much about it (compared to the other two roll calls).

No, all 1st and 2nd trimester abortion should be safe, legal, and rare.  Partial-birth abortion, however, is a disgusting act and it should be gotten rid of.

Guess I should explain my answer a bit more; I think that abortion "on demand" should never be legal. I do think that it is allowable at early stages of the pregnancy, providing that it is for legit reasons and approved by two or more doctors (I think the thing they have in Germany with the complusory councelling is a good idea as well) and later on if the mother would otherwise die.
And I hate the usual "except in cases of rape or incest" arguement; I don't support the death penalty.

^^^^^^^^
Pretty close to my POV. I'm ENTIRELY against Third Trimester except to save the life of the mother. I'm MOSTLY against Second Trimester abortions - I might add rape/incest to the life of the mother as exceptions but Al has a good point here. First Trimester is where it gets tricky - see Al's position on 'early in the pregnancy'. In any event, birth control should be legal and widely available (not including RU-486 or things like that, but the morning-after pill is fine).

First: No
Second: Yes, except for. . . (You all know the reasons)

Well, if she was raped, why would she wait until the second?

Many rape victims suffer from severe trauma and because of it don't do much of anything for months afterwards

So you support letting mentally unstable individuals end their pregnancies?

I support leting those who have suffered the heinous acts of rape not to  have to continue to suffer by having to come to terms with a pregnancy that was created through the horrific act of rape

Why should the unborn child pay for the rapist's crime?

Why should the unborn child pay for the rapist's crime?

The same question could be made towards the woman who was raped instead of towards the unborn child.

What a lame excuse.

The woman's pregnancy lasts 9 months.  The unborn child's death lasts... oh yeah, forever.

With respect, that is not necessarily the point. A woman has rights:  a zygote does not.

And I'm arguing that it should.
