Good for you mitty. I'm for expanding the Death penalty for Child rapists and molestors and of course including all those who commit first degree murder.

Yes.  Mandatory death penalty for first-degree murder, rape, kidnapping, and treason.

I'm opposed to the death penalty, but only because I can think of far worse punishments.

I don't oppose the use of the death penalty for very serious crimes, but I personally feel that a higher standard of judgement should be required for the use of the death penalty than what is required for jailtime.

I support the death penalty, but only in the most extreme cases (serial killers, multiple murders) where there is conclusive DNA evidence.

I am opposed to the death penalty on the grounds that innocent people have often been sentenced to death, and thereafter exonerated. I don't have a moral objection to the death penalty in general, however.

I echo these sentiments. Hard labor is the way to go, or some other form of public slavery (similar to the income tax) as I outlined in the other thread.

I'd rather it be slavery or really, really terrible prison terms because I see no point in killing a murderer when you have him sufficiently udner your control to do pretty much anything to make his or her life a living version of hell.

I'm in favor of the death penalty but I don't feel like getting into the specifics for it at this time.

^^^

I think we should always work to ensure our system becomes less and less likely to convict innocent people, and in cases where there can remaining doubt as to whether or not someone has commited the crime I feel that the death penalty should not be applicable. Of course, I'm not against alternatives being offered to those so sentenced - for instance, we might consider allowing them to volunteer themselves for medical or psychological experiments if they wish to avoid execution.
