York is a rural county that surrounds the City of York. Lately, it has received an influx of new residents from Baltimore and Philadelphia that has begun turning it into a suburban county ala Howard County, MD and the Harrisburg Metro counties. It looks as if it will stay in the GOP column for the forseable future.

I think it will get more conservative in the future. What do you think?

I would tend to agree that it will in the near future, though 20-30 years down the road, it may go the way of the Philly 'burbs as the Baltimore and Harrisburg metro areas grow.

Yea, I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Rural York county is racist and would fit right in Alabama. The city of York is the only Democratic stronghold, but it's 100% populist. Large black and hispanic population, but the mayor is white. The city still deals with a lot of racial issues stemming from the race riots in the 1960s.

Southern York county is really seeing an explosion in exurban growth, as many people are choosing to live in southern York county and drive to Baltimore to work rather then live in northern Baltimore county since it's MUCH cheaper now to live in PA. It's a very interesting contrast between the locals who are very "backwoods" and the rich exurbanites.
