Congrats to Cameron.  He now faces the long task ahead of preparing his resignation speech.

Congrats to Cameron.  He now faces the long task ahead of preparing his resignation speech.

Looks like it will between him and Brown then and when it comes to jobs and mortgages, better the devil you know Wink

Sort of like moving around the deck chairs on the Titanic while the ship is sinking.

Substance is more than superficialities.

Cameron seemed to do well at Prime Minister's Questions. Fairly confident, didn't seem at all out of depth up against Blair.

He was very relaxed. It will come across well in the media snippets.

He came across much better on TV than on the Radio. Not that it makes much differences either way; PMQ's are only taken seriously by people in the Westminster bubble and political junkies. As a serious political test, they're bunk; it's theatre pure and simple (not to say that, occasionally, it can't be enjoyable).
More interesting will be his Shadow Cabinet picks (the first real chance to see his ideological colours in a way). If he's got any sense, he'll demote his mate Osbourne (that guy has practically got the word "liability" printed on his forehead in big capital letters...) although he won't by the sound of it.

All, the more reason to keep Osbourne where he is at Wink Wink

Nick Robinson on The Daily Politics after PMQ's seemed fairly certain that Davis will stay as Shadow Home Secretary, Hague will be Shadow Foreign Secretary, Osbourne will stay as Shadow Chancellor and that Fox may be made Deputy Leader.

Hague gets to be Shadow Foreign Secretary, Fox is demoted to Defense... and Davis and Osbourne stay where they were.

He's also been handing out patronage jobs on committees he's setting up to IDS, Ken Clarke etc.

I listened to it on the radio. He did ok. I still think he will be a flash in th pan though. The similarities between Cameron/Osborne and Blair/Brown are riduculous. The former have only been in parliament for 4 years wheras the latter had been in paliament for 11 years and spent many years on Labour front benches in oppsition.
