Gore's homestate advantage brought him within a few points of Bush, where Kerry was demolished in a race that was otherwise similar in other states. Similarly, Guiliani would lose NY by a much smaller number than Bush did.
Than 2000 yes?  Than 04 not really,  maybe a bit closer, but Bush's 9'11 bounce he had here in 04, made things much closer than they typically would be.  Rudy may improve on that slightly, but the state was basically as GOP as it could have gotten.
