Good tune, crappy music. Lennon was a fool with a good ear. Nothing more

I don't feel strongly on 'Imagine'.  The Lennon song that pissed me off is 'Working Class Hero'.  It's very, very hypocritical.

John Lennon is an inspiration of mine, for interbreeding w/ a Japanese female. I am indifferent about the song, though.

John lennon made the mistake of marrying a woman that was uglier than him.
Don't try to do the same.

I like the tune of the song.  I don't subscribe to the political philosophy behind it because I don't think it's very realistic.

PS: I can't believe John and Yoko liked to take pics of their ugly selves on the nude!

It's the only good song he produces, post-Beatles.  I think it promotes a beautiful, idealistic view of the world (except "Imagine no religion"), which is precisely why it should not be used as any kind of political guide.  Never gonna happen.

Have you been living in a box?

Anyways, I am between loving this song, and indifferent. I like it, but I don't love it. I like the Beatles, and Paul was my favourite beatle.

Paul McCartney > John Lennon

Very true... Lennon is rather overrated...  Paul rocks my socks.

I love the Beatles, though.

IMO, Lennon's brief solo career was much better than Sir Paul.

Off the top of my head

Lennon:                                                                     Sir Paul

Imagine                                                                   Band on the Run
Give Peace a chance                                                Live and Let Die
Happy X'mas (War us over)                                     Ebony and Ivory
Mind Games                                                             Say Say Say
Nobody told me(There'd be days like these)          that 9/11 Freedom song
Watching the wheels                                                 Huh??
Working class hero
Isolation
Jealous Guy

Now whether Paul had better Beatles songs is a good argument but Paul in the 35 years or so since the Beatles broke up hasn't had that many great songs.  On balance I would say that Lennon in his ten years had far superior songs.

As for the Imagine song- I agree with Dazzleman.  I like the song but the goal behind the lyrics is not realistic.

I've never had a problem with the song.  Has a good message, though too idealistic to become reality.  Ranks up there with "Love Train."

Yes, I remember the song "Love Train" by the O'Jays.  Similar message, and similarly unrealistic.  I used to be a much bigger Beatles fan, but I've grown tired of a lot of their music over the years.

Here are the lyrics for those who don't know the songs:

"Love Train"

People all over the world, join hands
Start a love train, love train
People all over the world, join hands
Join a love train, love train

The next stop that we make will be England
Tell all the folks in Russia and China too
Don't you know that it's time to get on board
And let this train keep on riding, riding on through

People all over the world, join hands
Start a love train, love train
People all over the world, join hands
Join a love train, love train

All of your brothers over in Africa
Tell all the folks in Egypt and Israel too
Please don't miss this train at the station
'Cause if you miss it, I feel sorry, sorry for you

People all over the world, join hands
Start a love train, love train
People all over the world, join hands
Join a love train, love train

People all over the world, join hands
Start a love train, love train
People all over the world, join hands
Join a love train, love train

"Imagine"

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no contries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
