I  know it sounds like a flip remark, but I see it as something that goes deeper.

Are you willing to live your life in accordance with our values.  Take our democracy seriously, and participate.    Do your most to help make this a more perfect union, rather than solely looking out for yourself?

Will you forgo those things which might be advantagious to you, but detrimental to the nation (bank accounts in the cayman islands, cheating on your taxes, not voting - or voting without a decent grasp of the issues and candidates, speak your mind freely and allow others to do the same - even if you disagree with them and consider them fools)?

Do you believe that the people are best suited to choose our leaders and that the leaders should be accountable to the people?  Are you willing to work daily to make this nation (and for that matter this world) a better place?

In short - are you willing to live for your country?
