I'm looking for a term, and I'm not sure anyone has coined it yet.

As most here know, Islamisists are fundementalist muslims who believe that their nations should be run by their fundementalist interperetations Islamic principles rather than in a secular manner.

There are groups of fundementalist Christians who have a similar attitude (Jerry Fallwell, Roy Moore, Randell Terry, etc.) of wanting to run America on their interperetaion of Christian principles rather than in a secualar manner.

Is there a term to define such groups of people, or does someone have a good idea for such a term.  "Christianistists" is way too awkward.

Comparing fundamentalist Christians to fundamentalist Muslims is like comparing oranges to apples. Its a f*king joke to even compare the two as they have nothing in common.

Actually, the extremes of any religion all fit into the same category: insane.

Thats the opinion coming from a heathen of course. True Christianity can not really be "extreme" as Christianity doesn't encourage mass murder, pedophilia or beating of wifes/children.

Hah, that's like saying 'true communism' doesn't do what the Soviets did! Smiley
(though personally I'd take a soviet over a christian any day)

Ignoring the anti-Christian talk here, what the Soviets had actually was not true Communism. Real Communism calls for the elimination of government unlike what the Soviet Union had. (It also calls for the elimination of Religion, social classes, and ownership of private property.)

heathen? SoS is a Christian.

To answer to the question, there are terms for various such movements such as Dominionists and Christian Reconstructionists. But no blanket term for all of them.

The only comparison that was made was that the two fundamentalist groups would prefer to see their respective countries run solely on the basis of that particular religion.  Nobody is saying that the two are actually the same, in terms of principles and ideology.

I don't think anyone thinks abortion is "morally" correct.

As for gay marriage, there are some christian denominations that support it. Even mainstream one's like my own. Smiley
