this thread reminded me of this topic. I KNOW it's been done before. I just don't remember well.

Well, IMO The cuban embargo is a sign of the US's Immaturity.
It is an outdated policy. I say the US unban Cuba.

I'd say lifting would be the preferable policy. It would make Cuba a bit more prosperous hopefully, so their citizens won't want to illegally immigrate as much, among other potential benefits.

I would keep the embargo on Cuba in place until either Castro dies or until he makes a plea to come to the US to establish formal diplomatic ties, opens up the country to US investment again, and promises to hold free elections under international observation in one years time.  No one wants to see people suffer, and it looks bad that one of our closest neighbors (and one of our historical friends) being kept at the kiddie table and not allowed to sit with the adults.  Just imagine the money we could pump into that island through tourism alone!  However, Castro has to change, not the US.

But the Burmese regime isn't embargoed, and that's far far worse than Cuba. And Bush is coddling far worse dictators like the one in Uzbekistan.

So yes, lift the stupid thing.

Yes. I see no justification to restrict the freedom of Americans to trade with Cuba--we are not, for example, at war with that country.
