Capitalism hands down.

People always say communism is good in theory.  I would like these people to explain how there being no reward for trying harder is a good theory.  Capitalism is a beautiful system.  No matter how successful you are you can always strive to be better.

Given the general nature of those on this message board, I'm not even sure why this question is being asked.  I can think of one, maybe two, people who might not say "capitalism".

The real reason I made it is because I want to hear a few specific posters answer the question.  I will not release their names until it is safe to do so.

Capitalism i supose.
But don't I care that much for capitalism. What matters is the free market.

The two are synonymous for the purposes of this poll.

capitalism

An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

An economic system based on private ownership of capital.

In general I would suppose. And one need only look at the history of communist nations to know it isn't all that good for the workers or the rich people.

Neither. They both suck equally, and the best we've been able to come up with is a constantly fine-tuned mixture.

Capitalism easily wins. The USA is probably the closest example of a true capitalist society. I would say it has produced the most successful economy in the history of the world. The communist nations on the other hand have never achieved the level of freedom or economic well being for their people that our semi capitalist economy has. Germany provides another example; East Germany withered under communism, while West Germany flourished under capitalism.

capitalism

An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

An economic system based on private ownership of capital.

That does not imply that a free market is essential for the continuation of capitalism.
