I hate to say it, but this would be a really really low turnout election :-(

Bush would break 70% in many conservative states. Ted Kennedy is pretty much hated outside of liberal areas. In Georgia, I've never in my life heard a single positive opinion of the man.

Kennedy/Bush

This would be the election with the worst choice of candidates in history.

It'd be closer than most of you think-- Bush is sporting sub-40% approval ratings and his favorability ratings are at best comparable to that of Kennedy's.  I think we'd see party-line voting and low turnout, and a similar map to 2004 with Bush winning by a small margin.

Kennedy sweeps the northeast and West Coast.

Bush would break 70% in many conservative states.

Perhaps in the Interior West, though the black vote would prevent Bush's percentage from getting that high in the Deep South.

There are enough whites for the GOP to break 70% in the South. It just takes the right candidate.

Why 'rightfully'?  Bush is pretty much the right-wing equivalent of Ted Kennedy.  (Not necessarily on the issues but in background)

Uh, no. Bush did not get some girl killed.

Except for US soldiers and Iraqi civilians, they don't count.

But Bush wasn't the one who personally killed any of them.

No, but it easily could have happened; we all know Bush had drinking problems in the past.  I don't blame Bush or Kennedy for their mistakes 30 years ago, but since you bring that up, I have to point out the parallels.

I doubt Kennedy would do much differently than Kerry, though given how unpopular Bush is right now he could win.

It is rather odd that anyone cares about that dead girl tall tale given that Bush is more of a drunk than Kennedy ever was.
