Two terms as Governor, working on local and state issues, then two terms as U.S. Senator, working on state, national, and global issues.

I'm pretty content with my state's laws, and I could do a lot for Alaska at the federal level.
Doesn't Alaska already get enough pork due to Ted Stevens? Tongue Wink

Governor.  I rather be the one calling the shots, I'm more black-and-white, and I'm more of an executive type of person.

The reason I said that is, that if you're a senator, it's easier to hide the potential fact that you're a flaming incompetent.  You don't have to draw up budgets or anything like that, if you really wanted to, you can just participate in roll call votes.

That doesn't show much confidence in your abilities, does it man?

But you are correct that being a Senator has no real responsibilities, and you can be a complete incompetent.   Maybe that's why so many of them are.

I'm not dismissing the idea that I would have no idea what I was doing.

But Governors who have no clue end up like Bob Taft (villified), which Senators that have no idea (Dick Durbin, Mark Dayton, Jim Bunning has lost his mind within the past year) can get by fine.
