Yeah, most definately!! I'd get rid of them, and all of the unconstitutional federal gun laws they enforce.

No

I don't know every detail of its existence but Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms even as seperate categories certainly need more supervision than television language or movie ratings.

Plus, wouldn't abolishing the BATF just give a victory to the Tim McVeigh-type separatist groups? This country needs to be held together by more than just families and groups.

That supervision is certainly done by the states than by a terrorist organization who murdered dozens of people at the orders of Janet Reno and others.

I certainly disagree with you calling a branch of the American Government a terrorist organization. Thats a pretty strong way to phrase it.

Are you refering to Waco or some other incident? I can't tell.

Pym,

He is correct that the BATF does assault mostly innocent Americans. The actions at Ruby Ridge and Waco were a disgrace.

I don't know enough about either incident to say for sure. The BATF isn't really an issue around here, but if I was acquainted with it more I might not like it either.

The ATF as its now known seems to have a history of abusing citizens. I'm not sure why we need this organization in the first place. I'd be inclined to end the ATF and turn  their duties over to other existing organizations, maybe the FBI.

THe FBI's almost as bad.
I could support it, but first the FBI would have to be cleaned up and started from scrtach.

they should be abolished, i don't think the government has the right to restrict the sale and use of firearms, alcohol, or tobacco.  this makes the BATF useless.
