No idea if this has been done before; Letterman is the Democratic nominee and Leno is the Republican nominee. Who do you pick?

I choose Letterman, I like hi style Tongue (yes thanks to the wonders of cable I got to see both the day after they aired in America, but I think Leno has since been dropped)

EDIT: Parties have been switched

Actually, Leno would be the Republican and Letterman would be the Democrat.  That's a well known fact.

I heartily vote Letterman.

I think I'll edit that then Smiley

EDIT: Done, switched them about.

Letterman, just because it's impossible for him to be as unfunny as Leno!

Why is Letterman the Democrat and Leno the Republican?  I remember Leno saying in a "60 Minutes" interview (back when he was new to the "Tonight Show") that he was a staunch independent because the Democrats were too dumb and the Republicans too greedy.

I haven't heard Letterman say anything about his political views, but he's supposed to appeal to everyone, which means he can't come across as particularly Democratic, Republican, liberal, or conservative.

I know Leno has associated himself with a few Republicans, including Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Letterman always comes off as a bigger critic of Bush and the Republicans than Leno.

I am a Democrat and I love Leno's show, I never watch Letterman, that guy is still a sore loser all these years later b/c he didn't get picked to follow Johnny Carson, he really needs to get over it.

Besides the Arnold announcement show, which I was pissed Leno agreed to do, I wouldn't call him a Republican, or else I wouldn't be watching. What I like about Leno is his long monologue, Headlines and his genial personality which is much better than cold and vindictave Letterman.

As far as ratings go Leno has been beating Letterman since 1995, so he'd probably win. He's really into cars, so he'd do well in the South, since they're into that sort of thing down there.

Don't forget Letterman has his own racing team. Remember Danica Patrick?

Yet you also think (based on no evidence, as you've never watched his show) that he's "vindictive" and "needs to get over" not being picked by Johnny?

I think he could care less about the NBC slot; his material is fresher and funnier than Leno's; and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD at least he doesn't laugh at his own jokes (every time, like a certain NBC host).

Cold? Hardly.

Connan O'Brian only has one joke:
"OMG this material sucks"

It gets old rather quickly.

He does need to get over not being picked in 1992, its common knowledge that Letterman holds a grudge to this day over that incident, its in any book about the three men, it was a big event back then, I don't need to watch CBS to learn about it. Dave hasn't talked to Jay in 13 years, even though Jay says he's willing to bury the hatchet.
