Bingham was a moderate member of the Republican Party, especially when compared to radicals like Thaddeus Stevens. However, he was an author of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was very unpopular in the South. The few southern states that Hayes did (allegedly) win in real life would probably swing to Tilden. As a result, Tilden would very likely have won.

I would definitely vote for Tilden, over the framer of the most ambiguous clause in the entire Constitution.

Nah, the only reason Hayes won those states was because of fraud.  Doubtfully the real intent of the voters could have made any impact on that election.
