Section 3a of the proposed bill shall read: "All employees of the Government of Atlasia who presently earn $100,000 a year or more shall have their salaries reduced by 5%, save those whose performance indicators rank in the top 10%, whose salaries shall be reduced by 2%;".

Section 3b of the proposed bill shall read: "3b. All employees of the Government of Atlasia who presently earn over $80,000 and under $100,000 a year shall have their salaries reduced by 2%, save those whose performance indicators rank in the top 10%, whose salaries shall not be reduced."

A government employee currently earning, say, $100k would, by this amendment, earn less than someone currently earning, say, $98k.

wouldn't a similar problem haver occurred pre-amendment?

I suppose lots of people will be getting paychecks for $99,999 then.

Do you all want a vote now, or to fix that problem? I don't really mind either way.

That's what I'm asking for... I better set a time limit actually. If no one can think of a solution to that little problem within 5 hours, this is up for a vote.

That would only be until about 4:30 Eastern Standard Time. Why not give it 7 hours.

If we really want to fix the amendment, though it's kind of minor, it seems to me that we could do what is done through progressive taxation: reduce the portion of a worker's salary above $100,000 by 5% or 2% and reduce the portion of a worker's salary below $100,000 by 2% or 0%.

So... I guess the amendment would look like this:

Section 3a of the proposed bill shall read: "All employees of the Government of Atlasia who presently earn $100,000 a year or more shall receive a pay cut equal to 5% of the amount that they earn that is greater than $100,000, unless the performance indicators of the employee rank in the top 10%, in which case the pay cut will be equal to 2% of the amount that they earn that is greater than $100,000."

Section 3b of the proposed bill shall read: "All employees of the Government of Atlasia who presently earn $80,000 a year or more shall receive a pay cut equal to 2% of the amount that they earn that is not greater than $100,000, unless the performance indicators of the employee rank in the top 10%, in which case they will receive no pay cut based on the amount that they earn that is not greater than $100,000.  This pay cut shall be established in addition to the pay cut in section 3a in the case that an employee earns $100,000 a year or more.  If the combined pay cut shall bring the salary of the employee under $80,000, the salary of the employee shall be maintained at $80,000."

Haven't we debated this bill long enough? Tongue

Yes we've debated the bill but now we need to debate on this amendment (which I support) but we need to allow time for other Senators to argue for or against it. (Like we have all the time before) Smiley
