A18 - Much more intelligent than I will ever be.  Immature in some aspects of life, but way ahead of the game in others.

Senator Al - Good guy.  Great on demographics and election alaysis.

StatesRights - Fine American.  His views maybe a little off the wall, but at least you know where he stands and that will never change.

Boss Tweed - Good kid.  Like I said before, he's a little too pesimistic, but he's been right more often then not.

Lewis Throndhiem - Seems like a good guy, but I rarely engage in a conversation with him.

Keystone Phil - I truely believe that he takes forum talk entirely too serious.  I can picture Phil punching holes in his wall after engaging in a debate with myself, Scoonie, and other 'hacks'.  Just an FYI, when Phil starts throwing around the insults... You have won the debate.

opebo - Weird, very, very weird.  Probably the funniest person on the forum though.

Gabu - Rarely engage in a conversation with him, but he seems like a very laid back guy.

Gustaf - N/A

Jake - Fine American.  I may not agree with him 100% of the time, but I always make it a point to see what he has to say.  At times he can be funny as hell.

BRTD - Good guy, but I really think he tries too hard to impress people.

jfern - A little too far left for me, but stubborn as hell and always comes back for more.  I like that.

Supersoulty - Seems like a really smart guy.  I picture him as a future Republican strategist.  Hopefully Im wrong because he's light years ahead of current Republican strategists.

King - N/A

hughento - N/A

Alcon - Good kid.  Like Philip, much more intelligent than I will ever be.  His libertarian streak is beginning to get on my nerves though.

PBrunsel - One of the best when it comes to past presidents and American history in general.  Ive never seen him attack anyone on the forum.  Keeps his cool.

dazzleman - Probably the forum member I respect the most.  When dazzleman makes a comment... I make sure to tune in.

John Dibble - Crazy libertarian wacko.  J/K.  He seems like a good guy, but I rarely talk to him.

Akno21 - Solid Maryland Democrat.  Hopefully we can team up in 2006 for some nice analysis on the key races in our state.

John Ford - A little too smart.  It seems like he has an answer to everything, and he's always right.  He's good on economics, foreign policy, defense, etc...

Sam Spade - Very well rounded poster.  His election anaylsis is always very informative and has no partisan bend whatsoever.

Joe Republic - Id hold a higher opinion of him if he declared he was supporting Hackett in '06.

JKF - N/A

ilikeverin - N/A

Emsworth - Like Philip and Alcon.  Way too intelligent for their age.  Sites the constitution too much for me though (if there is such a thing).

Ebowed - One of the oddest Democrats Ive ever met.  Far, far right on some issues and far left on others.

Bono - If I ever need gun advice... I know where to turn.

Harry - Spoken with him very little, but he seems cool.

KEmperor - Had some nice convo's with him on teamspeak, but havent talked with him in so long I cant remember anything about him except that he used to be a libertarian, but switched to Republican after 9/11.

angus - Pretty funny guy. He reminds me of a hippie Republican for some reason.

MODU - Smart.  Put me in my place regarding VA politics more than once.  As a Warner supporter he's ok in my book.

Max Power - N/A

Flyers - Seems like a cool guy, but Ive never really understood his wacky sig's and his obsession with Joe Hoefel.

TexasGurl - Nice lady.  Good luck with the baby!

Tredrick - Smart guy.  Pretty good at busting up liberal talking points.

NAtion - Cool kid.  He doesnt want to see me heads up in hold 'em though.

Everett - N/A

NickSHepDem - Queer.

htmldon - As partisan as they come, but I really do not understand why.  He seems like a Chafee republican who would normally disagree with his party on numerous issues, but the R keeps him inline.

Peter Bell - Smart guy, but I rarely see him post outside of the Fantasy boards.

Josh22 - N/A

WalterMitty - Started the whole Freedom Fighter/Horrible Person trend.  Therefore, he is A-OK in my book.  Very unpredictable though.  Joe Biden and George Bush both FF's?

Colin - N/A

Earl - N/A

M&C - N/A

Materjedi - A more conservative don.  Maybe thats 'winfield' Im thinking of?

Carlhayden - He's the type of guy that Democrats need to win back.  But Im not sure what he wants from the party.

Berger - I swear this guy is a closet Democrat.  Just a hunch.

Excluding those I have not interacted with on a frequent basis:

A18 - Very knowledgeable, but can be a bit arrogant
Senator Al - Most knowledgeable of all forumites on American politics. Great views on economic issues.
StatesRights - Nice guy but I can't stand his borderline racist positions
Boss Tweed - One of the founders of Atlasia. Very knowledgeable and mature for a 15-year-old.
Lewis Throndhiem - Similar to Al, though more socially liberal.
Keystone Phil - Too defensive of Santorum
opebo - Not sure if he's entirely serious. Both red and blue opebo are/were a bit hypocritical.
Gabu - A bit unwilling to take a stand sometimes.
Gustaf - Very knowledgeable. Very conservative for a Swede.
Jake - Too fascist for me.
BRTD - I like him, but he can be a bit immature.
jfern - I agree with him on most issues, but he's a bit too partisan.
King - Wasn't he a Bush Democrat at one time?
PBrunsel - Good moral character. I disagree with him about Hoover.
dazzleman - I enjoy reading his posts, though I feel he takes anti-PC a bit too far
John Dibble - Best libertarian
Akno21 - Nice guy. Views pretty similar to mine.
Sam Spade - Didn't he used to have a Republican avatar?
ilikeverin - Happiest poster Smiley
Emsworth - Excellent knowledge of constitutional issues, though I don't always agree with him. Is he now a Republican or is he just using a blue avatar?
Ebowed - Friendly guy. Unusual ideology.
Bono - extreme libertarian
Harry - I admire any liberal in Mississippi
angus - Funniest poster
Flyers - Agree with him on most issues. Sometimes seems to believe that the world revolves around Philadelphia and PA-13.
TexasGurl - Nice to have a woman (especially a socialist woman) here. Congrats again on the baby.
Nation - Has become more moderate since he first entered the forum
Everett - Doesn't like my feminist viewpoints. I first thought she was a man due to her username.
Tredrick - Pretty funny guy. We went to the same college.
htmldon - I like some of his ideas, but he is a knee jerk partisan
Josh22 - Flip flops too much and is a bit intolerant
WalterMitty - Atypical Republican. Moved from a small NC town to Boston.
Earl - I like his ideas on feminism.
Carlhayden - Can't believe he's a Democrat

WalterMitty - Started the whole Freedom Fighter/Horrible Person trend.  Therefore, he is A-OK in my book.  Very unpredictable though.  Joe Biden and George Bush both FF's?

joe biden overcame a lot of adversity in his life.

how many kids with a stuttering problem end up as a us senator?

how many people dont fall apart after losing their wife and infant child at a young age?

how many people still have influence after a very embarrassing plagarizing episode.

and he also came close to dying during that 88 campaign.

This is exactly what I mean. No, I doubt punch holes in my wall because of the stupidity that is thrown around here.

As for being "too defensive" of Santorum, I think the real problem here is that people have a problem with me defending the man. I'm not being too defensive when I give the whole story.

What? The fact that I responded to John? I knew he was kidding but chose to address the other posts by quoting his. I wanted people to know that while I can live with John joking, there are people out there who do not (someone as annoying as yourself, KEmperor. Someone who is twenty-something years old yet gets more kicks out of making fun of teenagers than anything else is life).

If people are going to continue to call me uptight and bother me about that stuff even when I try to make them see otherwise then staying around here is beginning to lose its point.

hughento - I like him.
Alcon - Conversations are always interesting.  I am sure he regrets telling us he was uncut.

Akno21 - Good, solid Democrat.
John Ford - I, for whatever reason, like anamolies with the opposite PC scores for their own party ranks.
Sam Spade - Ditto.  And he helped me every step of the way in Fantasy Politics.  Very grateful to him.
Joe Republic - Like him.  It's nice to have TRUE independents.
JKF - Never held a conversation with him, but he is well-liked, so he can't be that bad!

Jake   the conservinator. If Jake ever votes for a Democrat, it'd have to be Zell Miller against Lincoln Chaffee; and even then he'd probably just not vote Smiley. Flaw-His fervour for his political views. Best-Is able to 'switch off' from politics and have a laugh sometimes.

Wrong douchebag. I've given numerous examples where I would vote for Democrats over Republicans.

Such nice things said about me here. It's a shame I don't post as much anymore, and I'll be the first to admit the substance of my older posts is pretty much gone these days -- my life is too hectic and I'd love to spend more time on Atlas, but I have a hard enough time keeping up with READING everything on here.

Come 2008 elections you'll see me on here TOO many hours each day, throwing out my thoughts on stuff.

________________

A18 - Very funny at times, but he seems much knowledge outside of what he's learned in books and such. Needs to get a job and pay rent each month. Also needs to see "RENT," which is an excellent musical by Jonathan Larson.

Senator Al -  He has a beard and he is incredibly smart.

StatesRights - I think his outspoken-ness with forum liberals and liberals in general is partially in jest --- he can't be that pissed off. A good American. Works hard for his family, plans for his future, and believes in his country, yet has a sense of humor and I'm sure is very open minded if you were to come across him on the street.

Boss Tweed - I'm still bitter about he labeled me a carpetbagger in fantasy elections, when I ACTUALLY moved to NY. Just kidding. I think he's a witty poster whose posts I actually read.

Lewis Throndhiem - Very liberal, don't know much about him, but I do know he defends his beliefs well from what I've seen.

Keystone Phil - I don't care what anyone says, I love Keystone Phil.

opebo - A fake poster or just a really sad individual.

Gabu - I really enjoy his odd sense of humor, and just his sheer ability to be open minded and understandable about every issue. A true moderate.

Gustaf - A socially liberal but fiscally conservative hawk. What happened to ol' Gus?

Jake - On occasion I'll actually manage to get offended by Jake, even though I know most of his outrageous stuff is in jest. Hilarious poster, and will probably move slightly more to one end of the political spectrum (most likely the exact opposite of whatever the political climate is on his college campus; i.e Nation became more conservative on a college full of super-left-wingers.

BRTD - Aye. I love him for his (sometimes) excellent taste in certain music, but the sex posts and logical fallacies get old. Would hang out with him IRL.

jfern - Seems like an angry man.

Supersoulty - Needs more self confidence, but a very politically astute mind. Will probably end up working in politics in some way in the future if he keeps pushing himelf towards it.

King - Hi-lar-ious.

hughento - Can't help but like an Aussie.

Alcon - Alcon is a good guy -- very smart, witty, and is one of the best moderators this forum could have. Does the job well.

PBrunsel - Has managed to balance his original knee-jerk conservatism with a sort of conservatism I can respect --- a shining example of what society needs more of: non-assholes.

dazzleman -Contrary to what some people say, I will NOT end up like Dazzleman -- for example, I will be much poorer than Dazzleman and probably living in the slums of New Mexico or Mississippi when I'm older. I agree that SOMETIMES you use standard textbook conservative respones a little much in your arguments, but overall you have some really solid positions. Keep at it.

John Dibble - I'd drink with him.

Akno21 - I'd drink with him.

John Ford -  One of the BEST debaters this forum has -- give him a position he's passionate about, and he will probably crush whatever pathetic argument you have. Makes me think of Governor Arnold for some reason, which in turn makes me think of Arnie saying: "I believe gay marriage should  be between a man and a woman." Zing!

Sam Spade - WHO ARE YOU

Joe Republic - As Ian said, a TRUE independent. Hope he stays around.

JFK -  Reminds me of Peter Bell. Likable, possibly drunk, good debater, and very book smart.

ilikeverin - I like ILV's idealism. So cute.

Emsworth - I think he's constitutional. Pretty amazing that someone so young can be so passionate about the Constitution -- kudos.

Ebowed - I'd drink with him.

Bono - Awesome music tastes.

Harry - Harry's gotten some crap in fantasy elections, but he seems like one of the most "normal" people on the forum. Keep holding down the Democratic Party in MS, Harry.

KEmperor - I like Kemp. One of my strongest allies in fantasy election days.

angus - The most cultured person on the Atlas --- I'd love to hear all of angus' tales of his travels and adventures. No joke.

MODU - Dunno much about him.

Max Power - w/e  JKJK roflcopter

Flyers -  Will probably marry some hot broad one day, unbeknowst to us.

TexasGurl - Cool poster. Not afraid to speak her mind. Admirable.

Tredrick - Hilarious -- I love his geeky comments and overall nerd-ity. That's a compliment btw, Tred.

Nation - hawt

Everett - See Texasgrrl.

Tredrick - OK TREDRICK YOU CAN GET OUT OF THIS THREAD NOW.

NickSHepDem - Just seems like a really admirable, likable, smart, nice, novice poker player who I can take money from.

htmldon - Dedicated to a political party --- admirable or scary? either or, I suppose. Fantastic guy, either way.

Josh22 - hahahahaha

WalterMitty - I'd drink with him.

M&C - I bet you he's looking at this thread every few days to see what people say about him. Leaving the forum, my ass.

Materjedi - uhhh i like masterjedi, but materjedi can go to hell.

Carlhayden - Good democrat.

Berger - Hilarious and reminds me of myself.

Burger - Tasty and unhealthy.

Bono - I used to talk to him more, he's very socially conservative, even if he's socially libertarian. Posts too many articles.
Ah, yes, what happened to us my friend? Undecided

Bono- Obviously has views very different from mine, but he's no dummy.  His knowledge of English is maybe the best of all the ESL posters, again proving that Europe has better schools.

Ha, thanks, but it is more due to my private schooling and self-learning(not to taunt), than anything else. Tongue

Bono:  his love of guns is a tad...scary at times.

Don't worry, I'm not about to go on a shooting spree. Tongue

Bono-  Agree on civil liberties, not nothing else.  A bit disinterested in American politics

What do you mean?

Bono - Paranoid hatred of the state, and likes to find lots of articles about it to. The reason I blocked you was because your continual posting of articles and/or philosophy that I despised studying as a student of it became painful. I didn't have it in me to ask/tell you to stop, which is actually quite cowardly of me. Oh well.

The only reason I even talked about that with you was because I percieved you as being interested on it! If you'd have told me you felt that way I would've talked about something else(not math though. I share the austrian school disdain for math Tongue )
And BTW, I'm not schizophrenic, but I do have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

Bono

Horrible and angry human being who embodies the faults of libertarianism in every article he posts. I'll stop here though.

Maybe I'm a bit angry at times, but to jump from that to horrible human being.
Despite finding yur political views horrible, I don't consider you one, though I liked you better before you became a liberal.

Bono - Even though our political compasses are different, I seem to end up agreeing with him more than any other poster

^^^^
W00t for paleo-conservatism/libertarianism.

Eh? Huh

Thanks.

And sorry to anyone I didn't include, but it was getting too big already. Undecided

It's my dream to get elected to public office but I'm beginning to see how that might not happen (beyond something like committeeperson). I just don't know what else to do with some people on here. I am not as uptight as some will say and I'm not this major asshole either. I'm tired of hearing it, too, so all I was saying is that maybe I should leave. That's all.

I think you can realize your dream.  Sometimes, people who tell you things you'd rather not hear are really your best friends.  You're a very bright guy, have excellent positions on the issues, and are a very good debater.

I'm willing to believe that you're not really as uptight as some people think you are.  But recognize that in politics, just like here, people don't really know you; they only know the piece of you that comes across in your posts or in the media, as the case may be.  That's how so many people in politics are completely misperceived.

If that is what is happening to you, fixing that misperception will be great experience for when you actually do run for office.

I've got some time on my hands, so here we go:

dazzleman - He's paranoid about a liberal takeover. But I definitly enjoy reading his posts, especially because he can be socially conservative without being a stuck-up jerk about it.

Tredrick - Knows his sports, is conservative but like Dazzleman, not a dick about it. Being a teacher brings a good perspective.

Thanks to everybody for their kind and thoughtful comments.

I particularly appreciate the two above comments because I do try (not always successfully I imagine) to put a friendly and human face on social conservatism.

Some people I find are under the misapprehension that the goal of social conservatives is to make everybody's life miserable.  I think the reality is just the opposite.  People who live by reasonable socially conservative values (and I'm not talking about bible thumpers) are generally happier than those who take full advantage of social liberalism, because they avoid many of the problems that come with living one's live outside of a defined set of values.

I have made it a point generally not to fall back on religious justifications for the values that I preach, even though I am a Christian.  I think that what is generally thought of as Christian morality can be shown to benefit people's lives right in the here and now, rather than the old-fashioned idea that we should be miserable on earth in order to earn a place in heaven.

It's a tragedy I think that Christian values have come to be identified by many people as obsolete ideas that simply rob them of enjoyment in life.  I must admit that some of the Christian churches, with the Catholic church not the least of them, are at least partially responsible for this attitude having gained such wide currency.  But wise people don't let the messenger divert them from a message that can benefit them.

Anyone who thinks that Dworkin and McKinnon's views are held by most modern day feminists does not understand it in the slightest.

You have no idea what I think.  Your reading comprehension and reasoning skills are not at a level that would allow you to follow my thought patterns.  You have demonstrated that many times over with the way you have twisted and miscontrued any number of topics.

What credentials do you have in understanding the feminist movement?  You think all feminists are radicals, even though they only make a small % of feminists.

No, I think the radicals have a strong negative subtle effect on those who are not radicals.  And what credentials do you have, other than being a toady?
