People tend to do things they're told not to do. The thrill of breaking the law often entices people to try things they normally wouldn't care about.

Would this hold true if marijuana was legalized? Would it lose much of its appeal?  Would the thrill of using it be gone?

No, but I don't think the numbers would increase that much either.

No. I think the main thrill of marijuana is getting high.

Hopefully more people would smoke it, or take it in pill form.

True, but there is a certain taboo aspect of it which also appeals to many.

If we made stealing* legal, would fewer people do it?

*I'm not equating the two, I'm just trying to figure out the logic here.

It is hardly the same, riceowl, as the appeal of stealing is universal.

If we made stealing* legal, would fewer people do it?

The reasons for stealing and smoking marijuana are vastly different, so it's a bad comparison.

You don't think anyone steals because, as you said, of the "thrill of breaking the law"?

I've pondered this question many times, and to tell you the truth I'm stumped. It's a great question, but I don't think anyone will know until it is legalized.

I'm sure some do, but the vast majority do so because of a lack of economic resources.

No.  I more or less agree with what John Dibble said.  The law of "don't smoke marijuana" is so easily broken without consequences that I think practically anyone who would do marijuana already is doing it.

i dont think it would have a plus or minus effect on it, we would just get more revenue.

Enjoying marijuana has nothing to do with it being illegal.

Why do you think those ghetto kids do it?

Due to desperate poverty and oppression.

Why is getting more revenue a downside?

I certainly did when I was 13.
