Presidential town hall debate
«

I'd like to have a debate with the other candidates where anyone can ask the questions. Sorry for the short notice to the other candidates but I've been pretty busy as of late.

The lack of the President in the debate's hall would be a seriously 1,000 lb. gorilla in the room, for better or worse.

Oh, I was hardly suggesting that you wouldn't show or anything, I was just lightly suggesting that it be worked out that you were at the debate, as it would be for the greater good. I'm certainly glad to see you here!

Okey dokey then, opening statement time:
Howdy everyone, I imagine you all for the most part know who Yankee and I am, so I will nto bore you with a long post summarizing what we've done, and if you do not know then here is a fine place to ask. I will instead speak to what you can expect from a Jbrase/Yankee administration. You could expect to see a good working relationship with the Senate, cabinet positions filled not based on party but based on who has the best understanding of how their job works and how to best better the game. You will see a foreign policy and trade policy based on reality and understanding, not based on fear or protectionism. Our administration will be an ally to the regions, and more importantly, to the people.
And with that said I yield the floor to these other fine gentlemen.

I am Former Northeast Governor Snowstalker, the nominee of the largest party in Atlasia, the Labor Party (correct me if I'm mistaken there). My philosophy is simple; though a strong private sector is the engine of economic growth and prosperity, we must realize that neither unrestricted capitalism nor total socialism will deliver growth and prosperity for all Atlasians. The role of government is to keep greed in check, and provide basic services, such as defense, health care, and infrastructure. That broad philosophy is held by most us, and it is why even an admitted left-winger as myself can find common ground with the most conservative Whig. Redalgo and I have worked with those on the left and right alike in finding the best solutions, and that is what we hope to do as President and Vice President.

Question for Snowstalker:
Your running mate, Senator Redalgo, has been absent from a number of recent discussions in the Senate and has missed several votes. Are you worried that his inactivity will drag down your ticket? How can you reassure voters that Redalgo would be active as Vice President and that he would be capable of leading Atlasia if he were to become President?

I think Napoleon and Nathan should also answer this question, since they have been running a campaign that's more lackluster than Snowdalgo campaign.

Thank you for the question, Mr. Nix. I've talked with Redalgo lately when I noticed that he wasn't as active as I expected. He explained that he's busy with his IRL job, and so has had lot less time for work in Atlasia. If his lack of activity, as you put it, becomes a serious problem while he is Vice President, I'll notify him. However, when he is active, he's absolutely an amazing writer and thinker, and that's why he's my running mate.

Atlasia, I'm running for another term as President because I want to continue to build upon the foundation laid over the course of this term and even from before I served as President. Traditionally, winning reelection in Atlasia is a difficult task, as no President has won two consecutive terms since 2009. Atlasia is on the right track, but we can and will do more. Looking back upon the August elections, we witnessed a new level of competition for our Senate and a more exciting race. Now we have a pretty dynamic race, with a good selection of candidates. This is good for Atlasia.
I promised a renewed focus on policy and I think there has been some fun and passionate debates in the legislature. I've put forth proposals to advance the policy goals of my administration, often successfully. I worked with the Senate to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, an end to capital punishment, and a compromise amendment that limited conscription. I've sought compromise, for example, I'm not too thrilled with all the components of the minimum wage change being debated, but worked to improve the bill by working in one of my own proposals to help improve the impact on working Atlasians. I signed a balanced budget without cutting services that Atlasians depend upon.
I promised to seek new and former Atlasians to join our game. We've experienced healthy growth in new registrations and several prominent veterans returning, including one in my Cabinet and one running in this election. This has helped keep activity strong.
There's a lot left to accomplish and I'm constantly coming up with new solutions and reflecting on what could be improved. You can trust me to keep this game exciting and work to improve the game. If I receive your vote, I look forward to the opportunities that a second term would provide that Atlasia hasn't experienced in years- literally.
Side note: I do not believe its proper to criticize Senator Redalgo's activity, he's been a good Senator and is a fine gentleman. I believe he is sufficiently active and qualified to serve as Vice President if his ticket is elected.

I'm not sure if this new tendency to appeal to the apparent inherent evil of Xahar in all things even remotely related to forum policing or this damn game is especially helpful.

I guess people who are still undecided or leaning can ask questions.

Well, it was very well intended, but probably put together just a tad too late in the process.
Still, it was nice to see the statements made.

If people can still do write-in votes, then you should write in my fantasyland name followed by Reality Or Nothing. We must have Reality, or you deserve Nothing. Reality is defined as a state of Cultural Marxism. This is the platform of the Party.
You should also second preference that gif-based party, because what they demonstrate is closer to Cultural Marxism (and thus to the Reality that we strive towards) than the Cultural Terrorism defined and practiced by the bourgeois forces that made this game dull years ago.
