To test which European fraction fits you best:

http://www.votematch.net/index.htm

And in case you want to know on who to vote in the Dutch European Elections, the English language variant of the Stemwijzer:

*Puting the gun away*

Mothers are holy. But why does she vote for them?

Well... um... good question. She´s not here, otherwise I could ask her. Cheesy

She´s not a communist, if you thought that. I think most PDS voters aren´t. Aside from being a pacifist (she usually voted for the Greens until 1999, when they backed the NATO intevention in the Kosovo) I suppose she votes for the PDS for the same reason most other PDS voters go for that particular political party: East Germans who are pissed off by the "West German-dominated" Federal republic because their home country (although they disagreed with its political elite) was "annexed" in 1990.

The PDS presents itself as party, which is pursuing "East German interests". Anyway, I think it has a lot to do with psychology. I do not pretend to fully understand it either. I was still a child when the wall came down and my political socialication took place mainly during the 1990ies after the re-unification. Well, sometimes I´m successful in persuading her to vote for SPD or the Greens. Cheesy
My political socialisation took place in late 1980's when the wall came down. It's probably most important reason why I become the conservative. I think that my generation (born in early 70's) is fairly conservative because of collapse of communism.

1 EPP
2 UEN
3 EDD
4 ELDR
5 Greens
6 GUE/NGL
7 PES

I've got absolutely no idea how I managed to get a moderate party as the PES on the 7th spot. Smiley.

I am not surprised...EDD in first place. If I could vote I'd vote for the Swedish party which is linked to the EDD.

EDD

UEN

(those were the only 2 with which I had major agreement)

GUE/NGL

--------------------

I disagreed with all others, most with the PES.

European Greens

ELDR

EPP-ED

PES

Freek--

You should register to vote in the fantasy elections. We have a presidential election coming up in June. You need to pick a home state in the US, and then either change your avatar to that state or include a statement in your signature saying what your home state is. Here's the link...

Nice test. I'm an EU enthusiast, just as I thought. And suitably I'll vote for a party belonging to the ELDR.

Positive:
1. ELDR (liberals, in the European sense of the word)
2. PES (social democrats)
3. EPP (christian democrats and conservatives)
4. Greens

Negative:
5. GUE/NGL (leftists and former or current communists)
6. EDD (EU skeptics)
7. UEN (ultra right)

With the turnout being as low as it is going to be, as Al says, there is a possibility of 17% according to the polls, is it possible that the BNP might get an MEP or maybe this Respect Party that is running Galloway in London?

Its a reasonable bet that UKIP and the Greens will do well, but maybe even smaller parties can break through, what about the SSP in Scotland as well?

I don't think Galloway will become an MEP... "Respect" is in direct confrontation with the Greenies who were there first... the BNP has a chance in the North West apparently (see? This is why PR is both undemocratic and stupid)... but they have an even better chance of getting someone elected to the GLA... PR is a f***ing joke... there is no way those Nazi's would ever get close to winning a seat in the old FPTP elected GLC...
On the bright side it means they won't be as focused on local elections.

It´s not "undemocratic" when people choose someone we don´t like. Quite the contrary...

Not as scary as having the ELDR in first place, I'd say... Wink

I'm anti-EU, and so are they..what can I say? Sad I would never vote for a bunch of right-winged whackos, of course... Smiley

I wouldn't say ELDR are all that liberal...they're about as liberal as the old People's Party in Sweden.

The old People's Party, what's that? Frisinnade landspartiet? I don't understand your comparison in that case. ELDR is, as I understand it, sort of like Folkpartiet. It includes the Liberal Democrats of the UK, for example. And I think it is the most pro-EU-group too, isn't that right? Explains why you think it's scary. Please sort this out for me, Nils Lundgren-fantasten. Smiley

Hehe, I simply meant pre-pseudo-fascist opportunist era...like the People's Party of, say, 5 years ago. Smiley

The ELDR is about as liberal as that, which means not much... Wink

I don't know where you get the idea that I'm a fan of him...I mean, the man wants us too remain a member of the EU! Wink

I don't really want to give away my exact identity on the internet...even though I admittedly don't go to great lengths to keep it a secret either. So I wouldn't answer questions like that, at least not in an open message...

I used to be a libertarian, the anti-FP reflexes are still there... Smiley

Wink
