I think what the test was leaning toward was the possibility of taxing personal incomes, which it presently does not do. Even then, its present taxation powers are very limited in scope.

What? I thought the EU did not have taxation powers? Huh

I thought that the fee we pay to the EU was from tax money collected by the national governments? Or am I missing something?

I think there are a few universally agreed taxes against businesses for environmental reasons (essentially green taxes), there are no taxes on personal incomes.

I don't think so...it's one of the issues in the Swedish debate. Our former EU-sceptic, now born-again federalist agrarians argues that we should introduce "green taxes" on the EU-level and the Social Democrats said firmly no, our PM claiming that it would be fundamentally at odds with Swedish soverignity to give the EU taxation powers. (one of the few times where I felt in agreement with the guy)

hUCK
Hauska testi
suomalaisessa vaalikoneessa (TS)
sain parhaiksi puolueiksi KESK RKP SKP

Here are my results
problem was that many questions were inadequate
for example EU has allready taxation powers

EDD
GUE/NGL
ELDR
UEN
PES
GREENS
EPP
Hieman outo yhdistelmä. RKP, KESK, SKP?? Minulle tulee aina Kokoomus. Joskus mukana RKP, LIB. Aion äänestää Piia-Noora Kauppia. Siinä on mukana ripaus protestia demari hegemoniaa vastaan.

To test which European fraction fits you best:

http://www.votematch.net/index.htm

And in case you want to know on who to vote in the Dutch European Elections, the English language variant of the Stemwijzer:

http://www.stemwijzer.nl/235
Hmm...this has the feel of a test that could have different results each time I take it...
First link:
1. EPP - Much agreement (YES!) Smiley
2. UEN - A bit of agreement (hmm... Wink )
3. ELDR - fraction on right/neutral
4. GUE/NGL - fraction on right/neutral
5. PES - fraction on left/neutral
6. EDD - fraction on left/neutral
7. Greens - Some disagreement (mirror of UEN) - take that, Greenies! Tongue

Second link:
1. LPF - Much agreement (hey, OK! Smiley )
2. VVD - Some agreement (also OK)
3. CDA - Fraction on right/neutral (OK too)
4. D66 - Neutral
5. PvdA - Neutral
6. SP - Fraction on left/neutral (more disagreement than that)
7. ChristenUnie/SGP - Some disagreement
8. GroenLinks - A bit more disagreement (YAY! Wink )

I wouldn't be your typical European, would I? Grin

First link:

Second link:
But between both tests not much difference can be seen. You have the Dutch parties in about the same order as their respective fractions in the Europarliament.

Well, maybe I was wrong then. Tongue

But I'm still happy with my main parties! Cheesy I guess Lewis was right - I would fit in quite well in a European-style conservative/Christian Democratic party...

Always a bit on the late side, but took the test

Much agreement:
1. GUE/NGL (Good thing since I'm voting for them tomorrow)
2. European Greens
3. PES
4. ELDR

Little Agreement:

5. EDD
6. UEN
7. EPP

It fits, lucky me. (Last EP-election, I did a Danish test and hit spot on the person I already wanted to vote for!!!)

Yes most have, but our christian party has just changed its name from Kristelig Folkeparti (Christian Peoples Party) to Kristendemokraterne (Christian Democrats) and has got a lovely Wink purple colour as their party colour
- And jurging by our statements on this forum I think that you would vote Junibevægelsen (June Movement) if you had the change. FB are way to left wing

Yes, my vote would go to one of the 2 (?) conservatives on Junibevaegelsn's ballot. I was just saying that out of the 2 above mentioned parties, I would probably rather vote FB... Wink

It seems like I'm an FB-voter then... Huh
Aparently. I don't know any of the FB-people, but by looking at Rina Ronja Kari http://rina.folkebevaegelsen.dk/ I can see that she is very leftwing (Det frie Gymnasium is a left wing Mecca) but she is almost your age Wink Cheesy

Well...that's good I guess... Huh

Always a bit on the late side, but took the test

Much agreement:
1. GUE/NGL (Good thing since I'm voting for them tomorrow)
2. European Greens
3. PES
4. ELDR

Little Agreement:

5. EDD
6. UEN
7. EPP

It fits, lucky me. (Last EP-election, I did a Danish test and hit spot on the person I already wanted to vote for!!!)

What GUE/NGL party? Not folkbevaegelsen I gather, but socialistiske venstre?

Don't worry, of course i'm voting Socialistisk Folkeparti (or Socialist Peoples Party , which sounds like a hardcore communist party from Vietnam or DDR Cheesy ) FB er loonies

I don't know about worrying, I'd probably vote FB over SF... Wink

Ah, yes socialistisk folkeparti...I think I mixed them up with the Norwegian counterpart...should have remembered that all Danish parties have folkeparti in their names. Smiley

Hehe...purple? Huh Cheesy

Yes, my vote would go to one of the 2 (?) conservatives on Junibevaegelsn's ballot. I was just saying that out of the 2 above mentioned parties, I would probably rather vote FB... Wink

Try DR's election page and tell me who you hit. Lets see if you are right about that FB/JB-thing

Sure. Smiley Back in aminute...
The tension is killing me......

Shocked

This was a definite shocker...I wonder if I misunderstood some of the Danish?

Gotten over it now? Wink It seems like Maria Carlshamre will beat Schmidt for the 2nd FP-seat, are you happy about that? I am, she seems less enthusiastic about the union than him.
