In honour of my 9008th post, a thread devoted to posts you have made that reading back on make you go "unnngh", blush and/or cringe.

I'll start with this gem from the topic, "The real reason Dems hate Bush". Most of my contributions to that thread elicit similar responses, but this is the worst.

Hughento,

Really? You make the genius pronouncement that you "hate Texas" and other similar gems of wisdom...and I'm the one who is stupid?

Well, it's time for me to back down. Obviously I'm no match for you on an intellectual level. But I'll sleep well tonight knowing that intelligent young men like yourself represent the future of our nation. Perhaps when you yourself earn political office some day you can dazzle us with more words of wisdom like you have in this thread.

Perhaps one day people will call out, "Plato, Aristotle, Locke...morons...Hughento is the real genius." "Just remember those brilliant statements from Hughento like..."

1. I'm outlawing Cowboy Hats...because people from Texas like them.
2. Republicans are evil.
3. My third grade teacher was a Republican...and he was mean to me.
4. No soup for Republicans.
5. Did I mention I hate Texas?
6. And in my first official act in office, the United States shall secede from Texas.
7. I'm from Iowa so cut me some slack.
8. Do you want to supersize that combo maam?
9. Did I mention that Republicans hate poor people?
10. Bush is so stupid...cuz he's short...and he's from Texas...and he talks funny...and his daddy was rich...and he's religious...and he's a Republican...

1. So do people from Iowa, Montana and Nevada...why outlaw them?
2. My dads a Republican and he isn't evil. I disagree with many Republican policies, and do truly think some of them are evil. Just not int the Lucifer-Hell-Brimstone way.
3. He was, but so wat? mY fourth grade teacher was a Democrat and she was mean to everyone
4. No tax cuts for poor people
5. I sure do
6. I would certianly welcome Texas joining mexico.
7. you ever been here? It is an intellectual wasteland
8. I'm going to college, I think I might need to work at McDonalds to pay for my tuition fees-the ones that have soared in the last four years.
9.Republicans dont hate poor people, but they sure dont give them tax cuts.
10. Bush isn't stupid, but he is very inarticulate, and certainly not smart ENOUGH to be POTUS. When did I criticise him for being short? Also, I do think the fact that he had it easy his whole life insulting, and I dissaprove of his religious fanatacism.

Your turn. Don't let me be the only one Wink

BTW, the thing that makes me cringe about that the most is the lies in response to 2, 3, 7, 8 and my changed views especially with regards to 6, 10 and sorta 5 and 9.

I most likely have some silly and/or uninformed posts from my early days...but I can't be bothered to dig them up. I don't think I ever said anything mean that I regret (it's mostly been justified ...Wink) I did have a conflict with MarkDel once where I went too far, though.

I can't think of any of my posts offhand, but my 2004 election prediction looks pretty stupid now.  I made it without having looked at any poll data, and was just going on very misinformed hunches.  Its the little map icon under my avatar.

Not necessarily cringe because I believe I said something wrong but cringe because of gross content:

I think we could make a whole forum for Naso on your topic, Hugh.

I cringe when I think back to the fact that I initially supported Nym90's re-election but then switched to Gustaf and the UAC after the convention, at which I gave a speech endorsing Nym90.

I regret making the "Screw yall, I'm leaving" thread, though it wasn't entirely unfounded.
