Am I missing something?  Kerry and Bush are about half an inch apart, whereas Kerry and Hitler are about two inches apart.

Yes, what you are missing is that the criticism is not that Kerry is closer to Hitler than Kerry is to Bush.  As you rightly point out this is not the case.  The criticism was in fact that Hitler is closer to Kerry than Hitler is to Bush.   Clearly this is absurd given all the similarities between Bush and Hitler - nationalist demagogue, advocate of 'traditional values'/religion, xenophobe, and most of all warmongering aggressor.

NW-You would feel most at home in the Northwest region. You advocate a large degree of economic and personal freedom. Your neighbors include folks like Ayn Rand, Jesse Ventura, Milton Friedman, and Drew Carey, and may refer to themselves as "classical liberals," "libertarians," "market liberals," "old whigs," "objectivists," "propertarians," "agorists," or "anarcho-capitalist."

I literally did not have any answers that approached those listed. Worst test ever.

East-You are an Easterner-a social conservative-which means that you advocate an increased role for the government in the personal realm. You are more or less pleased the government's role in the economic realm.

This test says that George Bush is in favor of more personal freedoms than John Kerry.  I think that's really all you need to know.

According to their map, the difference between Bush vs. Kerry is not conservative vs. liberal but more libertarian vs. authortarian (which is why he is closer to Hitler and Stalin than Bush is).

Frankly I think both Bush and Kerry should be in river, I mean stream.

Bush and Kerry were much closer on economics than social policy.  The whole election was polarized on social issues, essentially because Kerry wouldn't stand up, both ideologically and especially rhetorically for solid, progressive economics.

SW- You would feel most at home in the Southwest region You advocate a large degree of personal freedom and a large degree of government control over the economy. Your neighbors include such folks as Jesse Jackson, Ralph Nader, Hillary Clinton, and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine, and may refer to themselves as "liberals," "left-wing liberals," "civil libertarians," "democratic socialists," "egalitarians," or "anarcho-socialists."
