This is a slightly different spin on another what-if.

Imagine a world where John Kerry returns from Vietnam.  He is disillusioned and blames LBJ for the difficulties of the war effort and becomes a Republican.

Now odds are that the state of Massachusetts won't elect a Republican Senator (or will they).

Anyone want to tackle this guy ....

Massachusetts had a Republican senator from 1967-1979. What Massachusetts won't elect is a conservative Republican.

If a chain of events were set in motion that led to Kerry becoming a Republican, chances are he'd be much more ideologically conservative than in real life too.  So it's actually quite reasonable to predict that Don would vote for him.
