How about and Iraqi or Iranian avatar for some of our more liberal members?

Israel's a tricky one, however you show the map you make a very political statement. I would personally like to see an Israel which includes the territories, and certainly the Golan. Or Dave might decide not to show the occupied territories, but what about Jerusalem and the Golan, which have been not only occupied but officialy annexed, and all of whose residents vote in Israeli elections, etc? Creating an Israel avatar is playing with fire and dropping a major bombshell. But if Dave'll do it, well, fine by me!
I would also like to see Luxembourg. And migrendel will want a North Korea.

All these proposed avatars look very nice, but I think people are going overboard. Do we have any Indonesian posters? Do you think we are going to get any in the near future. I support only creating avatars for those countries that our active members represent, and then adding more if we get other nationalities later.
And I think that M has a good point about the Israel avatar. I would support recognizing the de facto situation, which is all territory Israel currently rules. If the Palestinians ever get an actual country, then maybe we could alter it.

I think that USA recognizes only 1948 borders, not annexation of Golan.
Oh this reminds me...
Dave can you annex Karelia to my avatar? (Russian occupied province of Finland) And maybe some parts of Sweden?

I live in Finland. I vote Conservatives (National Coalition Party) in Finnish elections, but consider myself as moderate Democrat in the USA.
In New York for the purpose of Fantasy Elections.

maybe the states of Australia
yes
I know I haven't posted for a while, but I am planning to post more again, and Australian states would be cool, or at least an avatar for the country itself

I tried to find a picture of a soldier throwing down his gun and running away, but I couldn't find one.

Hey! At least the other way around!
We want Åland back!
I agree on Karelia though. And Petsamo as well.
