Also, could Sam someone provide figures on how much money we're currently providing to Colombia?

The figures are in the bill text itself. Those two programs form all but the very smallest chunk of funding.

Also, tabling isn't a legitimate action recognized by Senate procedure anyway.

IIRC we can't actually table things at the moment (could be wrong). Might as well do an informal vote on it though; not that anyone has to take any notice if it passes, btw.

Aye or Nay on "tabling" this bill

Nay at the moment. I have not seen why we should table this bill.

Well, there's clearly precedent in the US Senate.   However, I am working out codifying something in the OSPR to talk about tabling motions, so it isn't informal.

There's also precedent in the Atlasian Senate. Such motions were used in a few cases during my vice-presidency. I accepted them on the grounds that, although not specifically allowed by the OSPR, they were a part of normal parliamentary procedure. There is nothing in the OSPR that prohibits the passage of such a motion.

Nay... I don't see why we should remove this bill from consideration before hardly any debate has occurred on it.

The Ayes have three, the Nays four. This bill has not been tabled. Are there any proposals to amend this bill? If yes please post. If not a vote will have to be called soon.

I'd like to amend section 4 to read as follows:

4. Under the heading of Colombia in the Foreign Policy Review, it shall read:
The democratic movement in Colombia is greatly encouraged, and Atlasia will take all steps possible to support a quick transition to full and fair democracy. We recognize Colombia's support for eliminating narcotics terrorism in South America and shall designate Colombia as having no economic restrictions and partial military restrictions due to the risk of sophisticated weapons falling into the hands of the FARC..

Nay

I'd also like to note that I may be absent for the final passage of this bill; if possible, I'd like to cast an absentee ballot for that occassion:  Nay.

Whilst I will not be supporting final passage of the bill, it is slightly less awful if amended as Jake suggested. So, in case this bill actually passes,

Aye on the amendment.

Not sure if it is *technically* possible... but I'll allow it anyway.

An absentee vote has been counted before as long as the bill doesn't change again from the version that said person voted on before he left.
