2065

President Carlton is inaugurated for her third term. In her speech she gives hints at another re-election run. In March Cuba votes 70% for statehood, 25% for freedom and 5% for remaining a territory. Since becoming a territory money and other assistance has poured into Cuba and has drastically improved the lives of its citizens. They enter the union on April 1st. China makes a large push in MER but is stalled almost immediately because of the mountainous territory, even though they have air superiority. An increasingly infuriated China looks at Taiwan and is clearly warned by the U.S. In a completely shocking move China invades Burma in the night and conquers and annexes it within a week in early July. Thailand mobilizes its entire army and places it on red alert. In other news Hamzah bin Al Hussein is re-elected to his second eight year term with almost 100% of the vote for his actions against China.

2066

China begins yet another offensive in MER on new year’s day and fails yet again. Even with this continued failure China announces the formation of the People’s Republic of the Chinese Empire. The next day China launches another major offensive into Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Even though they are met with tough resistance they are no matched for China’s large army. President Carlton again travels to Asia but this time she signs an agreement with Korea, Japan, Taiwan, India, Thailand and the Philippines to come to their aid if China attacks. Congress passes the treaty before Carlton makes it back to the U.S. At the end of the year VP Schmidt makes another secret trip to Canada.

2067

Not ready yet to deal with the newly formed alliance China invades and annexes Bangladesh. India fearing having its eastern territory cut off moves troops into the states of West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya. China begins to increase troop levels again in Fuzhou. China begins poking into Kazakhstan to try and find another route into the MER. They find little resistance to speak of. President Carlton travels to Europe and extends the alliance broadly. Republicans make gains in the House campaigning on a hawkish stance, they come one seat short of having a veto proof majority.

2068

China makes a full push into Kazakhstan early in the year. Despite having no resistance to speak of after taking out the military early in takes them until late spring to reach and capture the capital of Astana and taking complete control of the country, they annex as well. Though the world expects a major assault on the MER but instead China moves the bulk of its forces to Fuzhou. President Carlton announces she’ll run again for re-election with Peter Schmidt because of the volatility in Asia. The Democrats seem to know they’ll lose even though many people are wary of a fourth term. So they again nominate Gerald Murphy but he chooses New Mexico Congressman Brian Hartley for VP this time.

Cynthia Carlton/Peter Schmidt (R): 427
Gerald Murphy/Brian Hartley (D): 139

President Carlton easily wins a fourth term as Cuba gives her 70% of the vote for her efforts for annexation and then statehood.

Wait. Who does?

And I expect a substantial MER-backed revolt. With me around, you won't be able to foist off anything Bangladesh-related. Wink

Fixed to say China does. And MER is too busy dealing with its own war to deal with Bangladesh atm.

And as a sidenote Cuba has 20 EV's.

2069

President Carlton’s fourth term starts and she gives a direct warning to China to cease and desist. It’s all for nothing though because even with negotiations being taken China begins a three pronged offensive in June. First troops pour down into Thailand and even though the country is prepared for war their troops are no match for the overwhelming numbers of the Chinese and Bangkok is quickly captured and the country subdued and annexed. At the same time Korea is invaded. Chinese troops meet light resistance until they reach the former DMZ. Korean troops put up a tremendous fight but they are no match as Korea falls to the Chinese. Along with this the long awaited prize for the Chinese, Taiwan, is invaded and conquered though they are able to slow down China with U.S. weapons and machines. By the end of June China has conquered and annexed all three. President Carlton goes before Congress and acts for a declaration of war which is given before the day is out, they are quickly joined by Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, India, the Philippines and many others. By the end of the year China has consolidated and taken up defensive positions in its new territories and has drawn up new plans for the MER invasion as well as an invasion of Japan. Luckily for China Russia has chosen to remain neutral.

2070

China makes its next move early as it easily invades the less heavily defended island of Hokkaido. Japan is able to inflict casualties but are soon forced to conced the island. As the first U.S. and allied battle groups arrive in Japan China takes the island of Kyushu and launches a full invasion of India, first cutting off eastern territory before moving west. U.S. jets begin to battle their Chinese counterparts over the skies of Japan in March with no clear winner. By June with no clear support yet New Delhi is taken by China. In early July the first American troops arrive and are sent to Japan and India to help hold the lines. In late July China begins two new offensives. The first sends troops across the Caspian Sea into former Iran. They are able to gain a small foothold but are unable to break out because they are undersupplied and far from the main front in the MER. The second front is opened on the island of Shikoku where China is also able to get a small foothold in the southwest but are unable to break out here either because of the advanced weaponry of American and Japanese troops and American air superiority. Neither side makes any gains in the mid-terms.

2071

American and Indian troops are able to slow the next Chinese troops who eventually have to resort to wave tactics to take the city of Jaipur by February. European troops begin arriving India and join their American and European counterparts. President Carlton makes a trip to the MER and meets with President Hussein where they are brought into the alliance and receive greater amount of aid and weapons. All the fronts are quiet for the most part as both sides consolidate and China makes plans for big offensives the following year.

2072

Early in the year President Carlton announces she’ll be running for a fifth term with Peter Schmidt. She says she can’t let, in good conscience, become President in this situation with the war going on strong. Democrats erupt in outrage as many prominent politicians enter the field. In spring China makes an all out push in India at the city of Bhopal and are luckily stopped fifteen miles from the city. Before reinforcements arrive on Shikoku American and Japanese forces launch a massive counterattack and force the Chinese off the island in a space of three months. The Democrats have an extremely brutal primary with all the top tier candidates in the race but they eventually choose Massachusetts Governor Bart Robinson who chooses Vermont Governor Patrick Quinn for the VP slot. China launches cruise missiles deep into the MER in late September outraging the world. In the debates President Carlton comes out with a commanding lead and a complete surrender and freedom for certain portions of original China. In the election:

Cynthia Carlton/Peter Schmidt (R): 458
Bart Robinson/Patrick Quinn (D): 84

President Carlton wins re-election in a massive landslide due to her proper handling of the war and the fear of someone new entering the White House.

2073

President Carlton is inaugurated for her fifth term as she proclaims that the U.S. and her Allies won’t stop until they have gotten a total surrender from China. She is met with almost universal support, except from the fringes on both sides. In an unexpected attack in early February China takes the cities of Bhopal, Ranchi and Kolkata throwing them into chaos and hastily made defensive positions farther south. China makes another large assault at the island of  Shikoku and are again able to gain a foothold but in the process they lose air superiority over Japan. The first major naval battle happens in the Philippine Sea as the Chinese Fifth Fleet (China has 5 fleets) is destroyed and an invasion of the Philippines is foiled. Thousands die as China’s troop transports are obliterated. American and Japanese Forces again drive China off Shikoku in early December. In the MER Hamzah bin Al Hussein is elected to his third eight year term.

2074

China launches another major assault in India and takes the cities of Raipur and Bhubaneshwar. As fresh U.S. forces arrive in Asia they are sent to India where the Allies are greatly in need of backup. Chinese and Allied aircrafts begin to battle in earnest over the skies of India. American and Japanese forces finally make their move and begin their invasion of Kyushu. They are able to gain a foothold after pounding the defensive positions from the air. Troops and machines pour in and prepare for attack. In spring with western India not heavily defended the cities of Gandhinagar, Diu, Silvasaa and Mumba are taken and then before running into heavy opposition and are stopped. Allied air forces begin to gain the upper hand over India. President Carlton picks this as her time and sets in motion Operation North Star. VP Schmidt is sent to Canada and announces with the leaders of the provinces of Alberta, Quebec and the territories of the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut that they are seceding and joining the U.S. as states. The territories are combined as the state of Keewatin. Canada is outraged and threatens force to stop them but eventually do nothing with the war going on, the U.S. forces fully mobilized and the rest of the world willing to ignore it since the people in the provinces and territories fully support the change.

2075

The three new states join the union on January 1st. Alberta joins with 9 EV’s, Quebec with 13 and Keewatin with 4. The U.S. and Japan continue to slowly clear the island of Kyushu with the American air force able to keep the movement of troops to the island a trickle. China makes another large assault at the city of Hyderabad in India but they are stopped far short as the Allies inflict massive casualties. In late August American and Japanese forces, after being joined by fresh forces from the Philippines, make a large push and fully force the Chinese forces off of Kyushu. With the island secure their attention turns to the island of Hokkaido, the last island of Japan that China holds. By the fall Allied forces are beginning to gain full control over the skies of India and are taking the fight to Chinese weapons factories and bases in China itself.

2076

To start off the year Allied forces make a counterattack in India, making it a few miles before overwhelming Chinese numbers stall them. While this is happening Allied forces in Japan cross the Tsugaru Straight and take the city of Hakodate and the surrounding country. In March a massive air battle is waged over the city of Shanghai. Allied air power is able to decimate China’s air force which gives them almost complete control of the skies. In early June another massive naval battle takes place. China’s First and Fourth fleets are destroyed along with two U.S. aircraft carriers (China still as their Second and Third fleets). With this victory though the Allies are able to take control of the seas around Taiwan, stranding Chinese troops on the island. On July 4th a meeting of the 13 nations (biggest members of the Allies) takes place in D.C. Leaders from the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Australia, MER, India, Philippines and the exiled leaders from Korea, Thailand and Taiwan and plot strategies for China’s defeat and what to do after. The MER is also given many more arms and backup from Allied forces to bring the fighting to a new level in the west. At the end of the conference President Carlton says she will run for a sixth term in which she promises China will be crushed and the world reshaped. The Democrats know they have no hope to win with the war going on so they let Gerald Murphy and Brian Hartley be led to the slaughtering table for this election. Before election day Allied forces in Japan have reached the outskirts of Sapporo while in India they have begun a slow and costly push northward. While in the MER forces are building to make a large offensive in the spring. On election night:

Cynthia Carlton/Peter Schmidt (R): 488
Gerald Murphy/Brian Hartley (D): 80

Cynthia Carlton decimates Murphy for the third time. In her victory speech she again promises to crush China and reshape Asia with the help of the world community for a better future. Unknown to anyone except the leaders of China they are plotting a bold plan for a swift victory since they are beginning to get desperate.

Finally an update!! Smiley

2077

President Carlton is inaugurated for her sixth term and again says the Allies plan to crush China and end the war as soon as possible; China however has other plans. With their war efforts turning sour across the board they begin to plan a European offensive to try and knock most of the Allies out of the war. In March the MER, long on the defensive,  launches a counterattack in former Iran and is able to drive the Chinese army fully out of the area. With this defeat China gets desperate enough to launch Operation Knockout. In a desperate gambit China launches waves of air strikes against all military bases in Russia as well as nuking Moscow and killing all elected leadership. As this is all taking place China sends a vast armed force north from conquered Kazakhstan taking a large chunk of eastern Russia and drive through Belarus and Poland and swarm into Germany, France and Italy who are completely unprepared for war in their homeland. The world is horrified at the carnage and that the three countries have surrendered and are annexed by China within a month. Though the world is shocked and slow to respond the remaining German, French and Italian troops continue to fight with ferocity over what has happened and by the end of summer the front in India is pushed far north as Jaipur and Ranchi are retaken and the Chinese army is left in shambles. In September the last major naval battle of the war takes place as the Allies destroy the remaining two Chinese fleets. With this China has to resort to re-supplying their troops with air drops when their air force is also in major trouble. The Allies begin drawing up plans to make major offensives in the east early next year. By the end of the year though the island of Hokkaido has been cleared of the Chinese after a grinding campaign, with this Japan is finally completely free!

2078

China leaves skeleton forces in Europe as they pull back and throw most of their forces into India to halt the Allied advance as well as sending a few to the west to help shore up the last front against the MER. Though some troops are kept in Japan the American and Japanese troops are mainly sent into two new war zones as invasions of Taiwan and the Philippines begin. Having been barely supplied for months the Chinese troops fold rather easily as many surrender and both countries are free again within two months immensely surprising Allied leadership. A secret plan known only to the US goes into effect as the Chinese leadership is assassinated sending the army into chaos. With no communication for hours as factions wrangle for power in Beijing the Allies throw all their forces at the Chinese lines in India shattering them completely except for isolated pockets in the matter of hours with superior numbers and airpower with massive carpet-bombing of the Chinese lines before the assault. Many Chinese soldiers escape for now into the Himalayan Mountains only to die of exposure later. The rest retreat either west to the front against the MER while the majority head to Bangladesh which has been turned into a fortress which the remains of the Chinese force announces it will hold to the death. By summer a radically militaristic faction has gained control of the new “Chinese Empire” but by this time Allied forces have smashed the rest of Chinese troops in the west and have met up with numerous resistance groups and have crossed the Himalayas and moved into Tibet. Not yet wanting to deal with fortified Bangladesh the Allies move around it and begin plunging south freeing much of Southeast Asia with little resistance as troops have been ordered to return to China or to Bangladesh. On December 1st, US, Canadian and British reserve forces land in France and begin liberating Europe.

2079

On New Years Day President Carlton announces the end of the war is in sight and demands the leaders of China surrender. They of course decline as they prepare for an extended invasion. Allied leaders meet with Russian military leaders in Siberia and welcome them into the fold as they prepare a final, though equally bloody end to what has become known as WWIII. On March 1st Beijing is nuked again killing Chinese leadership. At the same time the entire Allied armies swarm into China from all directions overwhelming the country. A large chunk of the military, knowing the end is near counterattack and punch their way through and make it to Bangladesh and further beef up the fortress country. By the end of the month China has been defeated and conquered as the Republic of China (Taiwan) raise their flag over Shanghai. Turning to other matters Chinese forces left in Bangladesh have again said they will fight to the death. As all civilians stream out of the country massive carpet-bombings of the entire country begin. Allied forces eventually enter after a month of continued bombings and have to fight for every inch of land they retake as the country. In the end Dhaka is all that is left and within two months is reduced to rubble in building to building fighting. By the end of September WWIII is finally over! With the war over a worldwide council is created specifically for deciding the future for China. It will take months.

2080

With much work done the results of the council are announced in early June, they are as follows:

1.   Kazakhstan’s remaining leadership decides to join the MER.
2.   Tibet is given its freedom.
3.   Inner Mongolia is given to Mongolia.
4.   China becomes the Republic of China based in Taipei, Taiwan and administered by the former Taiwanese government until the country is rebuilt and free elections can take place.
5.   After such major destruction Bangladesh becomes part of India.
6.   Trillions of dollars from all over the world will be pumped into all countries affected by WWIII to help rebuild the region as quickly as possible.

Now that the war is over many on the left call for the end of the Carlton Administration after all these years. Responding to these calls President Carlton goes on primetime television and announces that she will run for one more term to help the rebuilding process and then will retire. With the coming of summer President Carlton goes on a tour of Asia to see for herself the destruction that the war has caused. She promises to send much aid to rebuild the area, as much as possible. She is received by cheering civilian and military crowds. Back on the home front the Democrats decide to bide their time for another four years and again nominate the ticket of Gerald Murphy and Brian Hartley. On the day before Election Day campaigning in Los Angeles President Carlton is shot five times by a former Chinese sniper who promptly kills himself before he can be captured. President Carlton is pronounced dead upon arrival at the nearest hospital. VP Schmidt is immediately inaugurated and chooses Maine Governor Sylvan Brown for VP as they continue into election day. With the nation in shock the election is a repeat of the last with many people casting their ballets for President Schmidt out of respect for former President Carlton and to honor her.

Haha, they haven't died. Why do you think they keep running Gerald Murphy? They don't want to waste their good candidates. And as was said in the tl Schmidt victory was basically a vote for a 7th term of President Carlton, she was killed a day before the voting. But the real question is how will President Schmidt do and can he win another term after 25+ years of Republican leadership? And as a sidenote if you don't remember, he's a liberal Republican.

2081

Peter Schmidt is sworn in as the nation’s 52nd President and promises to continue the late President Carlton’s foreign policy and also to do more to help Americans domestically. Many are shocked when President Schmidt proposes a bill that will include Seniors in the universal health care system that’s already in place for children and those under the poverty line. Conservatives erupt in outrage, many having forgotten that Schmidt governed as a liberal Republican while Governor of Delaware. Either way the bill passes relatively easily even though Congress is dominated by conservatives. Success is owed to all Democrats voting for it as well as many moderate Republicans, as well as many liberal Republicans that were pulled into office do to former President Carlton’s popularity.

While rebuilding continues slowly in Asia trouble is brewing up north in Canada. Many conservatives out west are angry the U.S. didn’t try and annex their provinces during the war. Liberals on the other hand are still outraged at what the U.S. did and continue to demand the “stolen land” back. Either way Canada is beginning to fracture with the country being split up. Conservative Party Prime Minister Bradley Owens knows something must be done and gets a province by province referendum passed that will determine what happens. Owens travels the west, especially his native Saskatchewan and stumps for annexation by the U.S. The referendum is set for early September.

President Schmidt travels north as well and stumps for annexation as well, knowing that the two countries united would be stronger. After spending a week in western Canada he travels south for meetings with all the Central and South American countries. On his return to Washington two weeks later he has introduced four bills, the South American Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA), the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA), the African Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) and the Asian Free Trade Agreement (AFTA II). Conservatives are somewhat happy with this after what they perceive President Schmidt’s first legislation a failure. Enemy countries are kept out of the free trade agreements which make them even more popular. The conservative dominated Congress easily passes them as President Schmidt signs them on Independence Day.

The rest of the year is relatively quiet until September. In Canada the referendum takes place. Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island vote for independence and form the new country of Maritime, they have a parliamentary system. Ontario and Manitoba vote to remain part of Canada and thus keep the name. Saskatchewan votes overwhelmingly to join the U.S. while farther out west British Columbia votes narrowly for U.S. annexation, the final total being 46-44-10 (annexation-independence-remaining part of Canada). The U.S. congress quickly passes legislation that allows Saskatchewan and Columbia (forced name change since they are no longer British) to join the U.S. on January 1st of the new year.

2082

Saskatchewan and Columbia join the union with 4 and 9 electoral votes respectively. President Schmidt in DC makes a speech welcoming the new states but he also has another mission. He announces the introduction of a new amendment, one that would allow foreign born citizens to become President after having been citizens for 35 years. This will cause much debate on capital hill with both parties split in all different directions on the issue. After much debate the amendment is passed and it moves on to the states.

While the states begin to debate the issue the economy begins to go into a recession. After over 8 decades of economic growth and prosperity and an even bigger war boom the economy had begun to slow down and then go into a downturn the last few months while finally becoming a full fledged recession in the spring. Hoping to nip it in the bud President Schmidt proposes an economic stimulus package and asks Congress to pass it as quickly as possible. Unfortunately the conservative dominated Congress rejects the idea. President Schmidt goes before the nation and lets them know what has happened and personally apologizes to them. By early fall the amendment has passed ¾ o the states and goes into effect. In the midterms the Democrats make huge gains knocking off many liberal Republicans and conservatives in the Northeast and along the west coast and other traditionally Democratic areas and regain the House.

2083

Once the new Congress gets in session they quickly pass a revised, slightly bigger stimulus package. Knowing it won’t help stop the recession now but knowing it could help many Americans President Schmidt signs the bill outraging the Republicans. In March a meeting of American Conservatives takes place, it’s also planned as a way to help strengthen the Republican Party in the coming years. Many issues are extensively debated and voted on. Though President Schmidt attends he is attacked almost the whole time by over 2/3rds of the attendees. Nonetheless he carries on and tries to get liberal and moderate Republicans to be heard but it still does little good. In the fall Schmidt travels to Asia again and is shown the rebuilding efforts so far. He tours many cities that are being carefully planned a rebuilt, many of them are ahead of schedule. On his return he gets another large Asia spending bill passed for Asia with the help of bipartisan support though the price tag is beginning to make economic conservatives gag.

2084

President Schmidt makes a trip to meet with Liberian leaders in January. Being the expansionist he is Schmidt tries to get a deal to eventually make Liberia a state. Liberian leaders are receptive but don’t want to make anything official. When he returns home Schmidt is asked by many conservative Republicans not to run for re-election. They tell him many are unhappy with his Presidency and they feel he is nowhere near conservative enough. He quickly tells them that he will make his own decision when the time comes enraging many who want him gone. When word of this talk gets out many former President Carlton supporters, those in office and private citizens take to the streets of the capital in support of President Schmidt. Trying to stay above it all Schmidt asks the protesters to let it be and to support it with their votes when the time comes.

With that all Schmidt announces that he will run for re-election with Sylvan Brown. Conservative Republicans though will not take this lying down and decide to run a ticket of their own. Mississippi Governor Harry Morrison takes the lead and chooses Texas Governor Rick Rowmer for VP. With this all going down Democrats feel they have a great chance at finally reclaiming the White House. They eventually nominate former VP candidate and Senator Peter Nguyen, the first Asian to lead a major ticket. He chooses Maine Governor Ralph Reid for his running mate. While many feel that this will be the election the Bloc Quebecois Party decides to start running their own candidates again now that President Carlton is gone. They nominate Quebec Governor Pierre Charest for President and he chooses Maine Representative Martin Paine for VP.

The debates are extremely interesting but going into Election Day it is certain Charest is only doing well locally in Quebec and northern Maine while President Schmidt and Governor Morrison are splitting the Republican vote with polls showing Senator Nguyen with vast leads. On election night:

Peter Schmidt/Sylvan Brown (R): 186
Peter Nguyen/Ralph Reid (D): 246
Harry Morrison/Rick Rowmer (IC): 160
Pierre Charest/Martin Paine: (BQ): 13

Peter Nguyen wins across the country and becomes the first Democratic President in over twenty five years and the first Asian President. President Schmidt takes liberal and moderate Republicans as well as a sampling of conservatives around the country. Senator Morrison wins historically conservative areas in the south and Senator Charest wins only Quebec.

Why did India have to annex Bangladesh? Why couldn't Bangladesh annex West Bengal? Sad

Hey, I have some latent imperialism, too.

Yay, it's finally an update! Comments please! Smiley

2085

President Nguyen is sworn into office, in his inauguration speech he declares the “decades of American imperialism is now over”. When he arrives in D.C. he is met by Democrats from around the nation where a massive rally is held before his inauguration. Immediately upon entering office he pushes through a bill that redoes the whole interstate system around the country as well as expanding or creating it in certain states, especially the new ones. With a commanding Democratic majority President Nguyen also pushes through a complete single payer universal healthcare system for everyone angering conservatives.

Meanwhile former President Schmidt moves to Liberia and with powerful connections, as well as the current President is installed as President himself shocking the world. In his first speech he is saying he is doing this for the betterment of Africa and eventually the U.S. as he begins to build a strong army, navy and air force. President Nguyen immediately condemns this as meddling in other countries affairs but other world leaders pass it off having previously known the President.

In early fall President Nguyen travels to Asia himself and tours the continuing reconstruction. He promises much more aide which is quickly passed while he’s gone and awaits his signature on his return to the U.S. While still in Asia meets with leaders in southeastern Asia where reconstruction has been the slowest and tries to get them to hurry up the process for the betterment of their citizens. While there an agreement is hammered out to create the Republic of Vietnam consisting of former Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

On his return to the U.S. President Nguyen signs the new reconstruction bill as well as increases to funding in stem cell research which has considerably advanced and is close to finding a few cures. Polls conducted show the President has a 63% approval rating.

2086

With intensive training from U.S. veterans President Schmidt feels the time is right and invades Sierra Leone. The fighting is tough though with modern weapons Liberia mostly has a cakewalk. After the country is subdued it’s annexed and modernization begins throughout both countries with executive orders from the President. Back in the U.S. President Nguyen is horrified and immediately travels to Liberia. President Nguyen promptly tells President Schmidt to stop what he’s doing and he is just as promptly refused and told to take his own advice and not meddle in other countries affairs. Thoroughly pissed he returns to the U.S. but he isn’t ready to do anything about the situation.

On the home front the recession is slowly beginning to reverse which all citizens are grateful for. While this is good news for the Nguyen Administration they get an unwelcome shock in May when Manitoba announces they are seceding from Canada and joining the U.S. President Nguyen refuses though Congress doesn’t agree with him as they gladly welcome Manitoba in which becomes a state on July 1 with 4 electoral votes.

The rest of the year is quiet as the Democrats make marginal gains in the House and Senate but are able to gain majorities in both.

2087

On new years day President Schmidt continues with his plan with simultaneous invasions of Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire. Though the fighting is intense they also fall before the beefed up army of Liberia. Though many leaders don’t necessarily like what’s happening they give their support to President Schmidt because of the state China has left the world in. President Nguyen is the only one to vocally oppose this besides some neighboring African nations and he is ignored.

Continuing on with his liberal agenda President Nguyen gets a massive farm subsidies bill passed. Over the last few decades they had drastically been reduced so the bill returns them to their former levels and then raises them quite a bit. Along with this more funding is given to many different social programs which greatly piss off conservatives nation wide.

Though President Nguyen is greatly successful at home President Schmidt is still a thorn in his side he also easily invades Guinea-Bissau, Gambia and Senegal. Other African nations in the region finally begin to get nervous and start taking preventative measures. President Nguyen sends them in aid and hopes that they are able to stop President Schmidt.

In the winter President Nguyen shocks his party by signing a bill that miraculously passed, which eliminates the estate tax. Some on the far left question him but stay in line with him anyways. His approval rating stands at 67% on Christmas Day. Though high it still pales in comparison to former President Carlton’s approval ratings near the end of her tenure.

2088

With the start of the New Year President Nguyen announces he’ll be running for a second term with Ralph Reid. Republicans begin their nomination process with many candidates vying for the job.

Continuing on with his grand plan in Africa President Schmidt invades, conquers and annexes Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo and Benin as well as formally annexing all previously conquered territory. Nigeria is alarmed at this and immediately raises their whole army and move it to their border while President Schmidt only focuses on modernizing and re-building the newly conquered territory.

Back in the U.S. Harry Morrison is able to win the Republican nomination this time around with a strong conservative agenda as well as calling for direct help for his former enemy President Schmidt in Africa. He again chooses Rick Rowmer for VP. As the campaign heats up it is obvious President Nguyen will have an easy time at re-election which allows him ample time to visit other countries around the world. He is even able to get the Bloc Quebecois Party not to nominate a candidate and endorse him.

On election night:

Harry Morrison/Rick Rowmer (R): 298
Peter Nguyen/Ralph Reid (D): 311

Though the election is a blowout in the popular vote the electoral vote is a lot closer even as President Nguyen cruises to re-election.

On Christmas Day President Schmidt launches a surprise attack on Nigeria in the middle of the night catching them unaware and driving deep into the country before they can regroup. As the year comes to a close President Schmidt sits at his desk and watches live feeds from the battlefield as his plans slowly come to fruition.

-First of all, There is no chance that the EV number by state would be exactly the same. Congressional seats and therefore Electoral Votes are reapportioned every ten years as a result of the census.

-Also, someone being elected for seven terms is not realistic. Even in the very unlikely case of the 22nd amendment being repealed, as you described, nobody could maintain that much support for more than 25 years.

This is not meant to criticise you, though. I just kind of get annoyed at tiny little things like that. It is a good timeline, in general. Smiley

1. I know, I just don't have the time or patience to fix EV's every time it needs to be done. Tongue

2. It was because of the war, without it she wouldn't have been elected that much. Kinda like FDR. But I know, it's kinda out there.

3. Thanks! Smiley
