Muttahida Qaumi Mahaz I think, but I don't know a whole lot about them. Not too caught up on Pakistani politics I'm afraid.

Why would you be concerned about the rights of Muhajirs (Indian-immigrants at the time of partition)?

More information than the names of the parties, please.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) - centrist
Pakistan Muslim League (Q)  - conservative
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) - leftist
Muttahhida Majlis-e-Amal Pakistan - Islamist
Muttahida Qaumi Mahaz (MQM) - secuarlist and liberal (in the traditional, not American sense)

I'd support PPP unless they were too tied to Islam (which I don't know much about if that's the case) in which case I'd support MQM.

I guess in a country like Pakistan, I'd prefer to support the secularists than the centrists.  So I suppose that means I'd support MQM.  But don't press me on it, because I'm only going on what you just told me.

Also those parties also have some ethnic divisions angle to them too (not that I know much about it) and there are some other small parties (mostly regionalist and some more extreme Islamists)

MMA has a majority of the NWFP, or at least did in the 2002 Elections.

I didn't include any of the Ethnic Parties, such as the Pakistan Baluchistan Party, because they aren't really major and don't have much support in parliament.

But that's the very party I'd vote for! Tongue

Pakistan has a Green Party you know... but its quiet minor.

Most of my family votes MQM and PPP.

None, because I can't imagine a party that would make Pakistan a livable place.

If your analysis is correct, BRTD, I'd probably vote PML (N). Not that any of these are that great. Smiley

PML-Q are the largest pro-Musharraf party, thus far, but he is generally supported by the MQM folks.
