MSNBC is disrespectful to Israel's leader.  This headline is totally in bad taste, it is also disrespectful of Abbas.

Most people don’t realize this is an “ANALYSIS “ piece when it is the lead “story” of the MSNBC website.  I think most people expect headlines to include only objective reporting and the “analysis” to be further down the page.

Both CNN.com and FOXNEWS.com are running top stories covering fires and floods.  Yet MSNBC chooses to headline its website by referring to Abbas and Sharon as “lightweight” and “overweight” along with “weak” and “sickly”.

Pathetic.  And the news media wonders why they’re not trusted by most Americans.

Considering the shocking pro-Isreal bias in American media, jmfcst, it does seem a very odd sort of criticism of Isreal to point out that its leader is a fat.

After all they could instead report about the slaughter and oppression of Palestinians.  Sharon's fascism is much more interesting and to the point than his obese form.

My problem with it is that they're treating their analysis as if it were a "Top Story".  The opinion (or "analysis") of the news media shouldn't be the "Top Story", rather it belongs in the "Analysis and Opinion" section.

To be fair, that caption looks more like something I'd find on the Daily Show than something I'd expect to see from a major news outlet.

Agreed.

Out of interest, how come the title of this thread refers only to Israel's leader, when both leaders are equally lampooned?

Because the word "overweight" caught my attention prior to my focus on the words "lightweight", "weak" and "sickly".

That may have caused the title to be a little one sided, but my post is well balanced:

Does it matter?

Abbass is weak, thus a lightweight.
Sharon is fat, thus overweight.
