Why didn't Kerry receive any votes on Niihau?

Why didn't Kerry receive any votes on Niihau?
I have a feeling that it's probably a more conservative area.

...True, but I'm wondering why.

I know that it is an island of Native Hawaiians who primarily exist on agricultural means and have little modern technology.  Is this like Hawai'i Amish?  Pardon the terrible, horrible analogy.

Texasgurl.  Wisconsin's elections system is so screwed up, votes end up in other states.

Yeah, I wonder if he's already been found out, tarred and feathered. Smiley

Everett, I think you are entirely right here.  I'm just surprised, though, because Native Hawaiians on the other islands generally swing Democrat (although they are still heavily pro-incumbent).

I'd be interested to see the 2000 results to see if Bush's "incumbent effect" was as pronounced here.

Where did you find these, Lewis?

Maybe the Robinsons were like "SUP NATVE HAWAYANS, VOTE FOR BUSH" and they were all like "kay" except for rebellious little Iohuni (or Konani depending on one's transliteration scheme) who was all like "stfu Robinson troll I am votnig for COBB"

http://www.state.hi.us/elections/ has precinct maps and results by precinct.

They have 2000 results, but since precincts are numbered after State House districts, and there was a redistricting in between, and I didn't find a map of the pre-2000 districting, finding the 2000 results for individual places was too much like hard work.
