Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson suggested Thursday that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s stroke was divine punishment for “dividing God’s land.”

“God considers this land to be his,” Robertson said on his TV program “The 700 Club.” “You read the Bible and he says `This is my land,’ and for any prime minister of Israel who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, God says, `No, this is mine.’”

Whether such comments work against him or not, this is what Robertson truly believes.  It's not a matter of intelligence -- this is in Robertson's realm of faith. 

Regardless of your political views or overall perspective of how much damage one's speech may be doing here and there, you've got to applaud a Constitution that respects and protects people that run the gamut from Opebo-style liberals to Pat Robertson-conservatives.

Robertson is just expressing his true beliefs, and thanks to that same Constitution, we all get a chance to weigh in on it, too.

No.  He use to be quite sane up to about 10 years ago.  Once he started toying with politics, he seemed to lose his grasp on reality.
