As my last act as PPT I open this election and etc. thread. The winner gets a poisoned chalice. The winner may decide what type of poison is used.

We need to keep this open a little bit first to see who wants to run.

Oh and yes I'll be running.

Anybody else going to run?

If not maybe we could start voting late afternoon or early tonight.

DRAFT GABU! Or DRAFT HUGHENTO! Or whatever.

As Ebowed has already said, I've served the maximum of four terms as PPT, so I can't run again.

It's not like the position of PPT is very political, anyway.

The Senate rules requires a 72 hour period for declarations of candidacy.

Declared Candidates so far are, in order of declaration of candidacy:
Sen. MasterJedi of the Mideast
Sen. Jake of the Southeast
Sen. TexasGurl of District 1

As a reminder, any other Senators who wish to run have less than 46 hours to declare.

It is, you just didn't abuse it.
When will you be constitutionally eligible again, if ever?

Oh, and I endorse TexasGurl for PPT.

It wasn't made to be a political position, just to keep the Senate working.

And Gabu can't run again at all.

I think that the term limits placed on the PPT position are the only term limit we have in Atlasia except for Pacific Governor. (?)

23.5 hours left to declare.

What would make it political?  Your job as PPT is simply to open and close debate and voting and to toss out frivolous legislation.  While "frivolous" is not completely well-defined, everyone has a fairly good idea of what it means, and if the PPT starts throwing out legislation that he or she simply doesn't like, then the PPT will be removed quick enough to make his or her head spin.  It's never happened before, regardless of whether or not the PPT was a liberal or conservative.

When will you be constitutionally eligible again, if ever?

I won't be, under current procedure.  It limits every senator to only four terms, not simply four consecutive terms.

No threat of the PPT being especially political; we have a hung Senate right now.

Unless we have only two parties, I have a feeling that the Senate is not especially likely not to become hung in the near future.

I don't even know what the partisan composition of the Senate is; it's never really been that big of a deal in Atlasia.

I was thinking more in an ideological sense; party labels are so weak as to be non-existent here after all...

Alright then.

2 Socialists (Texasgurl, Al)
2 Moderate lefists (Gabu, Hugh)
1 Populist (Jake)
1 Conservative (MasterJedi)
1 Moderate libertarian (Myself)
2 Libertarians (CheeseWhiz, DanielX)

Al could go either way. I personally think of you more as a populist but then you do call yourself a Christian Socialist, IIRC.

The declaration of candidacy period has now expired.  A voting booth will be up shortly.
