For those of us who aren't already past that point.

I really have no clue at all.

I'd like to follow my bloodlines and be a bookie, although that carries risks associated with it.

If I have to do a real job, maybe a history teacher.  I have a massive ego and like to talk in front of groups.

Hah, well that makes me feel better.

My problem is that I'm not good at anything important for a job.

Hmm, I'm horrible at school.

I know a lot about government, history, and economics, but there's nothing I can really do with that knowledge. And I'm decent with web development, including a fair bit of programming, but that's hardly career material.

I'm glad someone else is (sort of) in my position, though.

Be a teacher/professor

You have to go to school for a while, but what the hell.  You'll be past 20 then and time will fly by as it's an ever decreasing proportion of your prior life, so it really won't be that bad.

Also you can still post here 40 times a day to stay happy.

Well, the problem there is that my grades suck too much to be a teacher of any kind.

philip, why do your grades suck.  you seem plenty smart enough to do well in school or college.

your best bet would be to go to law school.  you are pretty interested in constitutional issues.

Nah, just pass.

Once you hit 25 nobody knows what your grades were anymore.  Your doctor probably got a 66 on his bar exam...but he's a doctor.

I don't know.  It would be fun to go into politics, though I'm not ruthless enough for anything other than local politics, which rather sucks because I also desire prestige.

I'm in A18's boat, nothing I'm good at (math, which I dislike, physical science, social studies) has any practical use.

No. Remember, the kinds of things we discuss on this forum are not the kinds of things school usually deals with.

A good example is Biology. I was bored out of my mind, and had no clue what I was doing. I only made it through that class by copying off of other people's papers.

In English, I always had to write stuff about vague topics I didn't understand. What's especially annoying is when they make you write about personal stuff. I don't think I even turned 20% of the things I was supposed to in.

In order to get a decent diploma or whatever it's called, you had to take three years of a language. I chose Spanish, and simply could not pick up on the grammar at all, or even a lot of the words. I had to re-take Spanish 1, and managed to barely pass. I failed Spanish 2 horribly.

And I hate Math. I was okay in Algebra, but couldn't grasp Geometry to any significant degree.

There's no way I could get into law school with my grades.

Ideally, I'd like to work for a company that makes video games, but as I have little experience at this point, I'll likely take what I can get for the first few years out of college.

I'd like to work in the US Government though I don't think I could ever be a politican past the state level.  I just don't have the charisma.  I'm also considering going to law school.

I am not entirely sure about career plans. I do, however, intend to go to graduate school.

Work to turn my state into a Democratic one, while keeping it's same charm Smiley

If that fails, maybe I'll join the military.

Something to do with economic analysis, not sure yet though where I'll be in the long run. The theory they teach you in school is not exactly the most important thing for job seekers. Software usage skills are most important.

Not really sure. Not even really sure what I'll go to college for. I'd love to go into filmmaking but thats not exactly a steady occupation.

Philip?

Ever consider going into economics?

Econ professors, at least at my school, make pretty good money...and as for the quality of their teaching...I think you'd be okay...you put yourself down a tad too much in that department.

Just don't talk about how Wilt Chamberlain caused a complete change in basketball foul line rules for 35 minutes and you'll be golden.

bullmoose has a good point.  Especially since now, more and more college professors are becoming more right wing-despite the rest of the leftism in schools.

I'd say you'd make either a good Constitutional lawyer or economist, even a good politician.

For law school, if your grades aren't quite up to par, you could probably do what I did-take classes at community college to get up your GPA (and get some stupid crap like English and Biology) out of the way, then transfer to law school, or business school, or something else.

Been out a year and a half & still have no clue.  May go into a banking type job, but also looking at a Political type job ( if Dave mejias or anyone else who has a chance decides to run for Peter King's seat (Ny-03) I will try to get a paying job in the campaign.  Another option is becoming a High School history teacher.  I graduated with a Major in History, still would have to go back to school for my teaching certificate.  basically if I'm not in something in which I like (or something with growth potential) by the time the Summer rolls around I will probably  apply to some local colleges in order to go back to school to get my teaching certificate for the Fall 06 or Spring 07 Semester
