Read:

TBILISI, Georgia (AP) -- A court has convicted a man of trying to assassinate U.S. President George W. Bush and the leader of Georgia by throwing a grenade at them during a rally in May 2005, and he was sentenced to life in prison.

Vladimir Arutyunian also was convicted of killing a policeman in the course of an operation to arrest him several weeks after the May 10 incident at a rally that drew tens of thousands of people to the capital of this former Soviet republic.

The grenade that Arutyunian threw during the rally attended by Bush and President Mikhail Saakashvili landed about 100 feet from the stage where they were standing behind a bulletproof barrier and did not explode. No one was hurt.

Sounds like Bush was pretty safe.

Horrible person.

While I personally dislike Bush and his policies, I would not wish for him to be assassinated.

Horrible Person.

I have no wish to see the president assassinated.

Actually, I thought Hawkeye started this thread at first, since he'd probably accuse the "libs" of plotting to assassinate President Bush.

Horrible Person. I am no fan of Bush, but I do not wish him bodily harm. (Although the choking on a pretzel while watching Jeff Foxworthy I find to be hilarious).

Who cares? Since when has that stopped us from discussing an important issue?! LOL.

For the most part, the Libs are too afraid to assassinate Bush for two reasons:
1. He might become a martyr like JFK
2. It means Cheney becomes president

Or, perhaps because they don't want murder someone...?

Anyway, horrible person, obviously.

I thought it was the Dolphins-Ravens playoff game a couple years back?

I remember reading about this when it happened, including here. The grenade he used was utterly unsuited for an assassination. He wouldn't have killed Bush if the thing had detonated one meter from Bush rather than one hundred meters.
In fact, I wonder if the poor sod hasn't been framed, if they got the right guy at all. I'd have to read into his trial, obviously - I hadn't heard of this since.
So in that light, I'm voting FF. If I find out that yes, he's definitely the right man (no reason to trust Georgia's justice system), and yes, he did not know that his weapon was totally unsuitable, I will ask to change my vote.

Bush was democratically elected. Yes, it's a shame I know but nevertheless he was

The only president I would support the assassination of is, perhaps, Abraham Lincoln.

You would let FDR destroy the country as long as he did?

You're actually right. It was the rumor that it was Foxworthy. I actually have no idea what he was watching, but that had been the original rumor, and I found it funny.

FDR was a horrible person, and an even more horrible president, but he didn't do anything that justified an assassination attempt.

But he did have an attempt on his life. It's a shame that someone said they wanted Lincoln assasinated... Seek psychotherapy! It's not healthy to hate someone so much! Especially one who's been dead since April of 1865!

Oh, I hate FDR way more than Lincoln, but only Lincoln committed war crimes.
