Hard to say if this is anything more than politicing, but it looks like Bush's hopes of an early Canadian thaw are gone.  Of course, sending a politico (former Speaker of the SC House) who can't speak French and had only been to Canada once before being appointed ambassador probably didn't help.

Political gesturing to the home team.  Canada still let's our ships and subs travel in those waters when we ask.  We use the forzen North waters more for testing ship capabilities than anything else really.

Harper is looking better and better I must say. I did like the Ambassador, I must admit, but after hearing him say we don't have sovereignty over our own waters, I must really shake my head in disbelief. Canada has as much right over arctic waters as the US does over Long Island sound.
