Yeah, taking the Senate in 2006 required a perfect storm. Gaining vast rows of seats in 2008 did not require anything much.
Seems like we already knew that 3 years ago. Smiley

it probably was closer to 0% than 1% at that point so if jfern was rounding he may not have been incorrect.

What had happened back in January 2006 that jfern thought made the Democrats so incapable of taking the Senate in 2006?  I know this was before George Allen's gaffe but did any of the other Democratic gains of that year (and Tennessee, which would have offset Virgnia) really seem impossible at the beginning of that year.  It seems like an eternity ago.
