I have never seen a political board that is so both diverse and resistant to domination.  It would be one thing if the board were diverse, but if one side was slowly winning over the other, driving members off the board.  I haven't seen any of this at all here.  The board's span of ideologies is very consistently diverse, in part because the site's premise itself is so diverse, and in part because the members of both sides are mostly very tolerant (in comparison to members of other boards) towards those with whom they disagree.

Just the fact that he makes such a tremendous volume of election statistics available to the public is a huge plus in his favor.

As is his operation of a non-partisan political forum that really only contains a few rotten apples.  This is very unusual.  I have no desire to post on a strongly conservative or a strongly liberal forum.  Neither an echo chamber, nor a forum that is mindlessly hostile, suit my needs or goals.

Yes, he's one of the few people included in these polls that I would actually say is a freedom fighter, within a certain context.  Accuarate information is one of the lifebloods of a free people, as is the exchange of ideas in an unbiased fashion.  To the extent that Dave facilitates these things, he actually is a freedom fighter.

hehehe . . . actually, other than a few posts regarding protocol and website upgrades, I don't think I've read much regarding the personal views of Dave on the site.  Still, he's done a lot of work in the election history portion of the site, and that alone deserves a lot of respect.
