They're both pretty darn good in that respect, certainly.  I'll go with Buddhism, given that it specifically teaches not to harm a single living creature.

Buddhists in Sri Lanka have engaged in mass repression against Hindus and Christians and Buddhists in Mongolia tried to wipe out any practice of tribal animist religions. Then there's these guys: http://tkb.org/Group.jsp?groupID=4263

So I vote Wicca.

There's also the guy from the Hells Angels who used to be one of the most feared and most powerful members who then converted to Buddhism while in jail and has since then been a "model inmate" who quite literally refuses to harm a fly.

Well the same is true of plenty of other inmates who converted to all sorts of other religions.

Just saying, even they don't have a perfect record. Lewis said something too about some people called the Bodhivasattas or whatever but I don't know anything about them.

Both of them are peaceful.

I like how Wicca kinda sounds libertarian though:

"An it harm none, do as you will"

Like I've said before, it's Liberal Christianity.

The only leftist Christian anyone can bring up engaging in "violence" is Philip Berrigan, who killed no one as he destroyed the tools of the military industrial complex and actually SAVED lives by helping bring an end to the Vietnam War.

Well, of course.  Buddhism is a broad enough category that you're bound to get a few bad apples.  However, any violent or repressive action undertaking by a Buddhist is quite concretely against the five main things Buddhists attempt to follow on the path to enlightenment:

   1. To refrain from harming living creatures.
   2. To refrain from taking that which is not freely given.
   3. To refrain from sexual misconduct.
   4. To refrain from incorrect speech (lying, harsh language, slander, idle chit-chat).
   5. To refrain from intoxicants which lead to loss of mindfulness.

If a student is told to do something and the student doesn't do it, whose fault is that: the instructor or the student?  The notion of nonviolence is absolutely fundamental to the Buddhist faith; I would go as far to say that anyone who acts in a violent manner towards someone else is not a Buddhist, which is to say that the person is not one who follows the teachings of the Buddha.  What the person calls himself is irrelevant.

Additionally, I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for the Dalai Lama, who is one of the largest figures in Buddhism today.

Buddhism.  Wicca is less influential.

I don't know anything about Wiccans, but Buddhism is a religion of class warfare from above, thence I voted Wicca.

The same here, but I really know very little about either one.

Liberal Christianity??!  Dude, christianity is liberal christianity.  Seriously, have you even read the New Testament?  Going on about not loaning money to folks who can pay you back, only to folks who are too poor, and the like.  My guess is that Jesus was, in reality, far too liberal for modern day US Democrats and US Republicans.

I do like the obligatory reference to the "military industrial complex" though.  Wink

Anyway, I voted Wicca.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone read the 'new testament', but liberalism does not object to or propose interefering with the profit motive.  No liberal suggests that a private citizen should lend for any other purpose than profit.  Liberalism's proposed redistributive policies are to be undertaken by the State, not private business.

For example - the student loan system, one of the primary achievements of American liberalism, provides loans from private banks to working-class students.  These loans are not a charity from the lender, but from the State, which gaurantees repayment - in effect gauranteeing the profits of the private business.

No, I suspect Jesus, if such a person existed, was more a socialist or a communist.

Doesn't everybody?  That's exactly my point.  Along with pointing out that Wicca, as Milk'n'Cereal suggested, is more Libertarian.

So what does socialism have to do with liberalism?
