Freedom Fighter.  He pretty much was the last stand of the old liberal Republican Party.  My mother's family, who had been Republican for nearly a century, loved this guy, and were very upset that he lost the 1964 nomination to Goldwater, who they viewed as a nutcase.

Freedom Fighter...

Oh, and yes he did, Walter. He had a heart attack in 1979 while fornicating with his private secretary. She was the one who called 911.

He also flipped the bird to a bunch of people who were heckling him as VP. His years as Governor were what he should be remembered by, not his later ones.

I'm surprised more conservative Republicans aren't vilifying him as the epitome of everything they despise about the old Republican Party before they took it over in the late '70s.  Tongue

Hah, that's a little remembered historical footnote.

He did in fact die while having sex with a younger woman.  His last wife - Happy Rockefeller - was his secretary, and he had cheated on his previous wife with her.

I don't know whether he was a freedom fighter or not.  I guess he could be called that, but I think the term is seriously overused on this forum.  In truth, there are few real freedom fighters out there.

Horrible person.

And I think the woman he supposedly had sex with was less than half his age.

Why on earth would a rich man who was old - say over 50 - ever have sex with a woman who was more than half his age?!

What do you people think money is for?
