Colin, as long as the same old gang (to use a portugese expression, the Reumatic Brigade) keeps running again and again to the same positions, no new faces are ever going to try and run because it would be a sacrificial lamb against a powerful incumbent.

Then they should jolly well have to put their best efforts into unseating that "powerful" incumbent. Any incumbent Senator remains in the Senate until such time as his or her electorate deem otherwise (unless they retire of their own chosing), it's called democracy and I, strongly, feel that "term limits" undermine democracy

Good, democracy's horrible. Good thing we're a republic.

The Senate is not democratically elected.

Senators are elected by their respective Regional or District electors aren't they or are you telling me there are in office by Divine Right?

That we are and like many other republics, we are a representative democracy whereby representatives (i.e. Senators) are elected.

Still, if you have contempt for democracy, in that in your own words it is horrible, that's your prerogative

In a democracy, everyones vote counts the same. Clearly a vote in the 2002 South Dakota Senate race was more valuable than a vote in the 2004 New York or 2004 California Senate races.

This amendment has enough votes to fail, Senators now have 24 hours to change their votes.
